I’m still waiting for Manchester, I think there is quite a few of us.
The email did say an update some point in January, still two weeks left of the month.

The fact they said those places would be allocated in January and it’s now the 31st and we haven’t had an email

Is there a course in May? I only know of courses in March and April. Not heard of any more this year

Hang on, I assumed the January course was filled and the next ones were the March and April courses? Didn’t know there was one in May.
Somethings definitely up if they have stopped providing pool updates. Has anyone heard anything official?

I know of someone internally who’s been told they are on the course in April but that was due to chasing up and are still awaiting official confirmation. Hopefully hear back today
The last official update I received (2022 applicant) was on the 9th November last year, mentioning that the January course was full and that the next confirmed courses would be March and April. Offers for these would be made in January.
I think the usual advice applies - sit sight, don't expect anything and be pleasantly surprised. There can be a multitude of things going on behind the scenes that can lead to delays and changes etc.

I’ve told people already. I was informed they are waiting for dates after March. That was from the recruitment team so yes, the courses for Jan - March won’t be available.

Will labours plan to nationalise the railways have an effect on getting new drivers?

Whatever happens, probably not. I once heard a third of Avanti's driving team was over 50, and while they're recruiting heavily, that'll take a long time to bring down.
Avanti, and most other TOCs, will need drivers for quite some time regardless of everything else.

Has anyone emailed recently and received a response? I’ve emailed regarding changing my phone number but not had a response. I just hope they’ve seen it and updated without the need to responding
I have and it’s total radio silence from them. No response, no update.
In response to your post, if you’ve updated your “great things about me” on your Avanti careers portal, they should see that if they need your details.

That’s good! I’m Manchester applicant, my uncles a driver at Liverpool. I’m hoping we aren’t waiting much longer

Getting it in the ear from mates and my partner about booking a holiday but I keep pushing it back every time there’s an update haha
Its a nightmare having to put your life on hold isnt it haha. Not just me then, everyone around me keeps asking if ive heard anything off them yet, been going on for months haha. Have you had any recent updates?

Me too! My work also need to replace me with a new person and I’ll need to train them up when they get here but they don’t want to get the person in until my course is confirmed as it’s been going for a year and could well be another year. Not as of yet but seeing 2023 intake being put on the next courses for Euston as they’re in need makes me think we will be looking at June time or after

I’m sure it will. I’m a Manchester applicant, been a year since being told I was in the TP. And I’m in the same boat but have a holiday booked for October, but knowing my luck it will fall then. I did tell them about it at interview though.

I'm 2022 applicant as well (October), had my final interview and got accepted in Feb 2023. Manchester applicant. It's being a veeery long wait.. hopefully we'll hear soon. I spoke to them earlier this year and they told me I'd be looking at end of this year, but she was estimating it according to how many people there were in front of me, hopefully it's sooner!

I’m gutted, I passed all these tests back in 2018 when it was Virgin but had to turn down the job offer due to the only station they could offer was Euston and only being 17 wasn’t possible. I applied for this job 4.5 years later meaning my pass results had a 6 months validation left on them but I had to retake them as it wasn’t long enough left so now my results are valid for another 5 years. If they jobs where advertised a few months earlier I may have been on one of the first courses aha. 6 years waiting and counting haha
