I wonder if readers have any ideas about Rover tickets that they would like to see introduced? You may also like to suggest changes to Rovers already available.

For example: I think that a Day Rover that goes Didcot > Oxford > north Cotswold Line through to Worcester stations (inc Parkway) > Cheltenham > Gloucester > Stroud > Swindon and back to Didcot.

Another one I would like to see introduced is a Day Rover for The Welsh Marches Line between Cardiff & Chester - with the option of a 2 day version. This would boost tourism immensely for places like Abergavenny, Hereford, Leominster, Ludlow, Shrewsbury & Chester with the ability to hop on/off any trains on the route.

Being as Transport for Wales are now getting their new fleets with more capacity, perhaps they could also see a way of including the Hereford to Shrewsbury leg in the West Midlands Day Ranger?

The full list of Ranger/Rover Tickets already on offer is here:> https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ticket-types/promotions/?promotionType=ranger-rover

Essex Branch day ranger. Valid between Shenfield & Manningtree on the mainline and on the branch lines to Southend, Southminster, Braintree, Harwich, Sudbury, Clacton & Walton.

Maybe at the same price as a day return from Southend to Harwich. Would be useful for people to explore the Essex branch lines with walking etc. Similar to the Thames branch ranger.

It would be great to have the existing Cumbria rover, but instead of stopping at Skipton, carrying onto Leeds.

Similarly, the East Yorkshire round robin should go from Leeds.

And a Kent weekend rover that goes all the way to Charing Cross/Victoria. That would be good :)

Yes, this is an good one. In the absence thereof, there are relatively reasonably priced tickets that would do much of that for you.

For me, a one day version of the Kent Rover. There's only a 3 day at the moment, for £45, so a 1 day for £18 or so would be quite acceptable.

All day dog ticket?:D

A Leeds - Harrogate - York - Leeds ticket. Only valid over each section once. Same price as day retuen Harrogate - Church Fenton but saves the aggro of explaining to ticket inspectors.

A Skipton - Carnforth - Barrow - Workington - Carlisle - Appleby - Skipton. Not valid via Penrith, only one journey over each section.

I'd love something that covers York and the general North Yorkshire area. There are quite a few good 1 day tickets out of Leeds and West Yorkshire already, but nothing that covers the York area too. Almost like a combination of the West Yorkshire Daysaver, the Yorkshire Coast Day Ranger and an extra bit up to fill the gap between the 2 areas in York, and possibly extend up towards Middlesbrough or Saltburn.

The Coast and Peaks Rover really should include Sandhills - Southport - Wigan (and by inference also travel through Ormskirk as far as Burscough Junction). Can't get much more coastal than Southport.

It's ridiculous that the northern limit is Liverpool - Sandhills - Headbolt Lane - Wigan Wallgate

I’m sure that there was a very similar thread to this one just a few months ago. I suggested that the gap between Derby and Sheffield would be a useful one to be added to the Coasts and Peaks Rover.

Has someone else has said a 24 or 48 hour Kent rover maybe only valid on weekends or at least at super off peak times weekdays in terms of its validity in and out of London and with perhaps some optional paid bus add-ons to access things like the rhdr, East Kent railway and maybe some complementary validity on services like the Thanet loop and the. 101 between Medway and Maidstone to compensate for the lower level of service on the Medway valley route

Yes, definitely to Charing Cross and Victoria.

Bring Skipton, York and Harrogate into the West Yorks Day Ranger.

Also, a Yorkshire rover covering most of South and West Yorkshire, plus Skipton, York and Harrogate - nothing east of York, Knottingley or Doncaster

Skipton & Harrogate I would agree with, but I suspect if you introduced York the price will probably double (if not more).

A shame, but would be well useful. Could maybe be a ”plus” ticket costing more than the West Yorkshire only one?

Or even for the West Yorkshire day ranger sell an add-on to give access to zones 6+7 which IIRC is what Skipton & Harrogate is included for season tickets (been a while since I was last in the area with the network map.

Similar in a way that you can buy an add-on to the West Midlands Daytripper to allow coverage to Stratford on Avon etc

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking. Perhaps bring Knaresborough/Church Fenton in at Zone 8 and York at Zone 9?

Also bring in Barnsley for Penistone line connections. Any benefit in bringing in Greenfield to link with the Manchester rovers?

Definetly agree with these:).

I would like to see Southeastern make a Kent and Hastings line day rover ticket.

That would be even better, especially if they could come to some agreement to Southern to include the Marshlink.

Something for the Chiltern Main Line in its entirety would be nice. Perhaps a "Explore Chilterns" rover or something along those lines.
But would you be willing to pay £60 or so for such a ticket, given it would likely need to be priced higher than a London to Stourbridge Off-Peak Return to prevent revenue abstraction? (Or higher than a Super Off-Peak, depending on the time restrictions that applied.)
