Does anyone know the process for Qualified Drivers such as any assessments/Interviews ect?

Also I notice in the paragraph that says what is involved it mentions..

"In total this could take in excess of 6 months and overnight stays/lodging may be required away from Newcastle depot"

Looks like a copy and paste gone wrong doesn’t it? Unless it means the training is done at Newcastle and you would have to lodge there.

First question is “have you been driving more than 3 years” a no doesn’t allow you to go any further.

I believe the is the first time in a long time they’ve recruited for qualified drivers? Guessing it could be the last time for a long time as well.

Potentially but I've always led to belive training is in York.

First question is “have you been driving more than 3 years” a no doesn’t allow you to go any further.

Indeed, I know Leeds and Newcaslte was about 5 years ago. So you never know it may be the last opportunity for another 5 years lol

Previous operational experience and knowledge of East Coast Mainline operations....this surley does not aim at many TOCs who's drivers are wanting yo apply.

Yes it was the first question they asked, and it was the hurdle I fell at unfortunately.

Like you say, there’s not going to be many drivers that tick absolutely every box. Maybe a few drivers cover small parts of the east coast mainline. But haven’t got other requirements, and maybe drivers have all the other requirements but not driven on the east coast main line before.

I imagine they will be in undated with applicants, that’s why it closes in a few days.

There is no lodge associated with Leeds and Doncaster.

I personally find that sort of thing quite poor.

Copy and paste makes sense, but make sure you remove/edit the depot specifics

The last I heard, a new starter at Newcastle won't need to worry about the lodge link for quite a while anyway - isn't that meant to be dead man's shoes?

The recruitment team at Lner is very small. They deal with thousands of applicants per role and in my experience with them they are highly professional. Because of their workload I think it's more than understandable to make the odd clerical error. Anyone who has also worked in recruitment may know that not all job adverts are written or "copy and pasted" as they are pre written and is a case of activating an advert rather than creating it so they may not even see the advert that is created.

Sorry but there's no excuse for not proof-reading and making sure details of a job advert are correct.

Fair point. I didn't think they'd want to pay for an extra hotel room but given how much training costs in general it's probably a drop in the ocean!

Possibly, but it's probably cheaper than having the "trainee" sat home for 2 days with nothing to do

The recruitment team at most TOCs is very small, partly why everyone waits so long for various stages of the process.

Ok. Obviously i must be mistaken. However. I can assure you are there are young drivers in the lodge link. I class young as under 50, not towards retirement age.
