Warrington not liking 59202

A visit from 59202 to Warrington has resulted in someone writing "Scrap It" below the cab window. Maybe the person thinks the 59 is too "Southern".

Why are the drivers doors not locked when parked up.?

But nothing a wash plant couldn't clean, my view is the loco pictured is a workhorse and hence why it would be nice to work it in a nice clean condition as long as the loco works then does it really matter how dirty it gets?

National Power blue was an absolutely phenomenal livery. A reet good splash of colour in the Yorkshire coalfields. It’s a shame it never got a chance to become more widespread on NP power station MGR runs (I’m sure I remember that a further potential order for 59207-59212 was mooted at the time), hampered in no small part by the takeover of National Power.

Fair point, they really ought to be. Today I saw an HST depart Swindon with a cab door open on the rear power car, not good on the security front! :roll:

rusting body work is something that may in future inhibit its ability to do its job; for instance, if those bits of rust on the windscreen frames get bad, the glass may not stay in place. Keeping it painted and rust free is part of keeping it running.

I'd have thought there is possibly more chance of them being sold off given that DBS is carrying out the 'Super 60' upgrades. From their point of view it would be more economical to have one type of heavy haulage Type 5.

On a related note, I wonder what the chances of 59001 ending up in the National Collection are?
