a wash plant wouldn't sort the peeling paint and rusting bodywork
But nothing a wash plant couldn't clean, my view is the loco pictured is a workhorse and hence why it would be nice to work it in a nice clean condition as long as the loco works then does it really matter how dirty it gets?
National Power blue was an absolutely phenomenal livery. A reet good splash of colour in the Yorkshire coalfields. Its a shame it never got a chance to become more widespread on NP power station MGR runs (Im sure I remember that a further potential order for 59207-59212 was mooted at the time), hampered in no small part by the takeover of National Power.Too "Southern"? The 59s are good Yorkshire stock that have been exiled!

As Sir William Stanier once said,
Oh yeah, I had a strong feeling that there was a list of planned names knocking about, thanks for providing the details!Names were planned for 59207-59212 according to Colin J Marden's excellent Encyclopaedia of Modern Traction Names: -
- 59207 Vale of Berkeley
- 59208 Vale of Keswick
- 59209 Vale of Mowbray
- 59210 Vale of Neath
- 59211 Vale of Pewsey
- 59212 Vale of Taunton Deane
Not forgetting 59206 that never got to carry its planned name of Vale of Belvoir (for which plates were cast).
Why are the drivers doors not locked when parked up.?
It is looking sorry for itself ain't,though as long as it can do it's job that's the main thing, lol, we could all do a bit of a tidy up now and then

I'd have thought there is possibly more chance of them being sold off given that DBS is carrying out the 'Super 60' upgrades. From their point of view it would be more economical to have one type of heavy haulage Type 5.Isn't it about time the 59s had a mid life refurb?
