Why are some 6 cars running all day on the Southport - Hunts Cross line at the moment? Is it to do with the closure of platform 1 and the wall sidings at Southport station currently?
Yes. I believe the wall siding is also part of the possession.

Anything on MerseyBlue's whereabouts today please?
It should be running the 09.51 Hunts Cross - Southport at present.

Is MerseyRailways 2.0 a website? Please can you provide a source/link to it!

There is a link on the Branchline Society website to a "Mainline Charity Charter" due to take place on 12th May. The page simply says "No further details are available at present" but I would say this is almost certainly a placeholder page for the 507 tour.

004 has already been stood down, believe it was on Tuesday so the same as when 508104 went.
I posted on Tuesday (earlier post on this forum page) after seeing 507004 running ECS from Southport over to Birkenhead North depot, as I was making my way over to Birkenhead North to catch 508104 on its final passenger service.
507004 caused a bit of confusion on platform 2 since it ran all the way from Southport to Birkenhead North depot, with Southport running on the display at one end of the unit.
As it pulled into platform 2 at Liverpool Central, to reverse out over to the Wirral, crowds awaiting the next Southport service gathered around the doors awaiting for them to open, quite sad seeing as the unit had already been withdrawn and would never have passengers on again.
It even caused a bit of confusion on OpenTrainTimes since it was orginally routed to enter the reversing siding at Liverpool Central from platform 2, before the route was cancelled for it to head straight out again after the driver changed ends. This caused the '5T65' headcode it was running with to get stuck in the berth on platform 2 for a short while.
I then caught up with 004 at James Street platform 2 and Birkenhead North station as it gave a tone after heading around the bend as it passed the depot.

Any info on the next 507's to be stood down please? It's just that it would give me a target of ones to go for next week. Thanks
If they continue to withdraw 507s based on those with the least remaining mileage, I would focus on 507013 and 507032 most of all as these must be very low now. Also consider prioritising 507002, 507014, 507021 and 507030.

One rumour floating around is that 507002 (the Hope University train) might have its mileage managed to allow it to run on the farewell tour, but this seems unlikely.

My apologies.

Heard slightly different on Mersey Railways 2.0.
No worries

It's always sad when you know a unit is working under it's own power for one of the last times, when it is perfectly capable of continuing in service for longer!

Thanks for that. As mentioned a lot on here, it makes you wonder why withdrawals are still happening at an alarming rate on what are now perfectly fine units when the 777's are still the result of many failures and cancellations each day. It also makes you wonder if they've even considered halting 507 withdrawals until the 777's gain some better reliability or they get some new ones onto the network. Madness!

I still need a decent shot of 002 so it would be nice to see it last as long as possible, also due to it's nice livery. If it's mileage is potentially being managed though, then it means it will be seen out on the network a lot less which will make it harder to find. Ah well, we'll see what happens!

Merseyrail is celebrating 120yrs since the Southport line was electrified in April 1904 and the weekend of the 11/12 May will probally celebrate this fact with the final operation of the remaing 507 units.

I believe it’s to do with leases. Merseyrail not wanting to extend so therefore once they are up that’s it

507001 watch: it is out today and currently forming 2U07 07.12 Southport - Hunts Cross for anyone chasing it. I think it is only out as a late addition from Southport sidings due to a track circuit failure causing severe delays at Liverpool Central.

Also, 2C01 05.39 Hooton - Liverpool - Chester was a 507.

Some interesting running on the lines this morning. Saw some Hunts Cross to Southport services crawl through two reds at Central, and now we have Ormskirk services turning back at Moorfields and Headbolt services turning back at Sandhills so a couple of spots of wrong line running.

And a 507 noted on the 1001 departure from Chester this morning after a fair amount of 777 cancellations earlier on. Presume some if not all of those were caused by issues at Central meaning units couldn't get over from Kirkdale.

Thanks as always @CallmeDave.

It was nice to do a wrong-side run into Moorfields platform 2 earlier on 001. Then straight from the oldest train to Arriva's oldest bus on the rail replacement. Pleased with that!

I was wrong about 001; it has been out since start of service, originating from Kirkdale. It just didn't stick to its diagram yesterday.

507032 is still stabled at New Brighton following its Southport line failure last Thursday. I fear this unit has already worked its final service.

There have been a few issues with 507003 (I think) over the last few days (it was with 020 when terminated at Birkdale on 1557 18/1). Last night it wasnt with 014 on 1908 Hunts X Southport although 6 cars were showing on displays and announcement said short formed. I take it that 007/010/017 are the New Brightons then.

Yes.

507003/015/020 in the sidings at Southport, 507032 at New Brighton and 507002/028/029 in Birkenhead North Depot as of this morning. I think that covers where all the remaining service 507s are today.

507003 just passed Ham Square at 1820 Ecs to presumably Birkenhead North.

507007,010,017 are today's New Brighton units plus a 777

Are you saying that each unit has a specific separate end date? Have those dates been calculated on the supposed delivery dates of the 777s? Seems rather risky. Also, it would be better if possible if any unit, rather than a specific unit, went off lease on a given date. That way you send one with a serious fault to the scrapyard rather than one in full working order.

From what I’ve read it seems to be the case. Not sure what the rules are regarding swapping units
