Quite likely to be due to accountants. "You've got too many trains - time to get rid of some".Have any more 777 entered service in the past few days? Seems mad to send units for scrap when they are covering 777 diagrams. How are the scrap units selected?
777005 failed with a door fault on Monday. The PIS wasn't playing ball either, hence it displaying 'not in service' in this picture when it was actually working New Brighton's. https://PaulBigland.zenfolio.com/p371569599/ed3b86dee507021 still out as above, 507029 taken off diagram and replaced with a 777. 507003+16 still out so there are three pairs running off peak.
777005 has failed at Rock Ferry on 2C24. Being shunted in to a bay platform. One to watch.
507029 failed 1st thing (not that surprising as it was sat at New Brighton for ages -shoe pick up?) it was parked there at lunch with 507028. 507021 was turned round at Hooton (on the 1230 from L Central) as the 777 in front had some issues (005?) 507011+507023 went from Southport to Birkenhead North this morning. 507002 was stood outside Birkenhead North. 507014+507015 were out all day seen departing on 1757 ex Southport. 507003+507016 1542 from Southport were out for the peak only. 507031+507020 did the 1542 Southport to Hunts X and return only. 507001 did 1612 Southport Hunts X and return only.507021 still out as above, 507029 taken off diagram and replaced with a 777. 507003+16 still out so there are three pairs running off peak.

Thanks for today's updates. 507029 was on the West Kirby line on Monday morning replacing a 777 which failed to start, then spending Tuesday between New Brighton and Birkenhead North Depot.507029 failed 1st thing (not that surprising as it was sat at New Brighton for ages -shoe pick up?) it was parked there at lunch with 507028. 507021 was turned round at Hooton (on the 1230 from L Central) as the 777 in front had some issues (005?) 507011+507023 went from Southport to Birkenhead North this morning. 507002 was stood outside Birkenhead North. 507014+507015 were out all day seen departing on 1757 ex Southport. 507003+507016 1542 from Southport were out for the peak only. 507031+507020 did the 1542 Southport to Hunts X and return only. 507001 did 1612 Southport Hunts X and return only.
The next few weeks aren't going to be pretty, I fear. Only three six-car sets on the Southport line this evening (and one of those was on a normally three-car working), and that's with 004 amongst them!
507011 and 507023 both in Southport sidings and not used for peak, so potentially two more out of service to add to 507002, 507017 and 507028 on the sick list. 507029 also went from New Brighton sidings to North depot, then back to New Brighton today, although this unit was on the West Kirby line yesterday morning.
Worth saying that despite 508104's many faults, it has remained fully serviceable throughout and still had several years worth of overhaul mileage left. Personally, I think pulling all the 508s early despite several having only recently had overhauls is a big mistake.

011 Southport end.507011 & 507023 will need a post-fatality inspection and bio-clean before returning to service. There was a 5T65 evening move on Monday night which I would have thought would have been those two units over to Birkenhead North, but obviously not. Is it 011 or 023 at the Southport end?
I saw three running around with Not in service on the external displays. The inside displays were working fine.777005 failed with a door fault on Monday. They ran to Kirkdale this morning. Seen in the Sandhills reversing siding around 0920.507011 & 507023 will need a post-fatality inspection and bio-clean before returning to service. Morning,Good morning everyone. Any information on planned moves for 507001 today (Thursday) would be greatly received.
No Worries - Any 507s out on the Wirral and which services are pairs on the Southports please? Thanks for today's updates. 507029 was on the West Kirby line on Monday morning replacing a 777 which failed to start, then spending Tuesday between New Brighton and Birkenhead North Depot.

I’d be surprised given there is not enough units even for Ormskirks if there is any 6 cars tonightLatest Allocations

Yes, there should. Three booked 507 diagrams on the New Brighton line Monday - Saturday. There shouldn't be that many on New Brightons... What's happened?
How long until they go to Southports only?Yes, there should. Three booked 507 diagrams on the New Brighton line Monday - Saturday.
Looks like this combo has just gone pop. Got to Birkdale 6 minutes late (after leaving Southport only 1L) and now running as 5U42.Southports

Seems to be happening a fair bit more with the 507s over the past week than it was before?Looks like this combo has just gone pop. Got to Birkdale 6 minutes late (after leaving Southport only 1L) and now running as 5U42.
Could just be the cold affecting their old bones! It's been a chilly one this week. Not a great working to fail - it would become 2S46 which is the 1723 out of Central to Southport. Very busy one, that.Seems to be happening a fair bit more with the 507s over the past week than it was before?
507011 has run from Birkenhead North to Kirkdale, where it collected 507032 following that unit's earlier failure. The pair are now on their way back over the water as 5T64.
The 17:23 starts at Sandhills now, and no more 6 cars renders the network unusable unless you want to be crushed for the next hour or so.Could just be the cold affecting their old bones! Today started with up to four 507s unavailable (507002/011/028/029) which is just about manageable. There are now up to two more out of action (032 and potentially either 003 or 020), which will result in some six-cars being short-formed (assuming none of these is fixed) but no loss of service on 507 diagrams. The 17:23 starts at Sandhills now, and no more 6 cars renders the network unusable unless you want to be crushed for the next hour or so.
Also I fear they may need to reduce the service tomorrow. It seems like a heck of a lot of units needing attention
They will still have a fair way to go to catch up with the failures on those fancy new unitsSeems to be happening a fair bit more with the 507s over the past week than it was before?
Why are some 6 cars running all day on the Southport - Hunts Cross line at the moment? Is it to do with the closure of platform 1 and the wall sidings at Southport station currently?Today started with up to four 507s unavailable (507002/011/028/029) which is just about manageable. The situation with the 777s is another matter. It seems there were none spare at all today, hence the Ormskirk line having cancellations for much of the day.
One thing that doesn't help with the Southport line pairs is running one all day which does not meet the high peak in the afternoon, i.e. the 1636 Hunts X - Southport. This is a significantly busy service but not close to the loads the three services after it attract.
