Eurostar Connection?

Arriving on EMT at St Pancras at 0734

Connecting onto 0855 Eurostar to Paris?

I would have thought so it gives you more than an hour at St Pancras to make the connection, if you want piece of mind I would suggest you buy either a through ticket from your destination to Paris or a ticket from a UK station to London International. This means that you will then be covered by the International Conditions of Carriage which mean that if your train to St Pancras is late then you should be allowed to travel on the next Eurostar to Paris. See options 1 and 2 on this page.

I thought of that, but the only problem with that is more expensive, which would be worth it for peace of mind, but it wouldn't really benefit me because even getting the next train would mean that I miss my connection at Paris Est!

I personally wouldn't risk it, because you never know what is likely to happen with your train.

But really it is the only way I can get from Nottingham - Berlin in one day via Paris!

Plenty of time. You will be fine unless there is a monumental delay to the EMT service.

The Eurostar staff are usually very friendly so even if your EMT train is severely delayed, they should still let you check-in 10/15 minutes before your departure and would almost certainly try and accommodate you onto the next service if you missed it, even if you didn't have a through/London Int ticket.

Also, are you sure that it is the only connection? I have found this connection later (which could be used as a back-up) but it depends on what day of the week you are travelling.

This is a possible connection for tomorrow (3 May), but there may well be different times/different trains on the day you want to travel. As long as it isn't a Saturday then there may be another option.

What kind of ticket have you got? Going to (nearly anywhere) in Germany is usually cheaper and probably quicker via Brussels.

Make sure you get some decent travel insurance!

I know that, but the DB ticket where you get an ICE from Brussels are leaving London first thing in the morning, so its not possible unless I stay overnight in London, so any saving is as good as lost.

It should be fine, but if there is a fatality or major signalling fault, then it won't be fine. But then if it's that bad I would expect Eurostar to be lenient... but we can't give 'official' advice on the forum that 'it'll be okay' when the contract technically says it isn't!

So the official advice has to be 'pay the extra'.

But if you're asking me, what I'd do? If the extra is substantial I would risk it.

Are you on a through ticket from London to Berlin with DB then? As there is a connection to Berlin Hbf from Brussels-Midi via Köln Hbf on the ICE 17 and ICE 643 leaving Brussels-Midi departing at 14.25 arriving at 21.38.

If you're interested both the ICE 376 and ICE 546 are booked for the ICE 1 (first gen loco version) - it will be refurbished internally to near ICE 3 standard though.

The EMU ICE 3 (and newer versions) are definitely my preference though, mostly due to the lounge at the front with the view ahead through the driver's compartment!

I'm not really worried about what happens if I miss the connection, but my main concern is what are the chances of me missing the connection. Getting the next train is irrelevant right now tbh for me

Well, if you were travelling on a Saturday or Sunday, the 08:57 to Brussels gets you in to Berlin at 21:34. (Unfortunately, Mon - Fri you have to leave at 08:27).

As I'm sure you know, you just have to play around with the connection time in Brussels to make sure it connects on to an ICE rather than on to a Thalys, to get the through fares.

OK shame there isn't an earlier EMT service you could use to get the 8.27!

I notice there is a service at 4.51 from Nottingham, changing at Loughborough, arriving at 6.49 into St. Pancras. Although it doesn't show any advance singles!

I know, Ive used the 4.51 before but I got an advance? But if I can't get an advance then it isn't an option!
