I've been offered the position of G3 at Greenloaning (Perthshire). I have the medical next week, and assuming all goes well with that, due to start training in April.
Can anyone confirm the roster at this box?

Afternoon, the shifts are 1030-2230, 2230-1030
Shift pattern is -
Monday-Wednesday Dayshift then 3 off
Sunday-Wednesday Nighshift then 8 off
Thursday-Sunday Dayshift then 3 off
Thursday-Saturday Nightshift then 1 off

Yes I believe a new one is due out fairly soon

I’d imagine the times most likely wouldn’t but the days/nights may do as you need 32 hours rest after a booked night shift. Shouldn’t be too different
Yes but no idea when, it’s nothing major just a couple days changed for the fatigue index

Hope you've had the call by now? I was the same, 11th December. I got the call on the 15th with an offer. They were very apologetic about the delay. I had my medical last week and I'm just waiting on a start date for April.
But still likely to have a long block of 7 or so days off?

Unfortunately most rosters with a long slog of working days followed by a lot of days off aren’t compliant with fatigue requirements so are changing.
The old idea of working as much as possible to then have a really long break has been shown to lead to a lot of fatigue at the end of the run of shifts, rather than having regular days off to recover spread throughout the month.

This is the same as the roster I work on and it’s great
Just had an email back regarding the Three Bridges positions, no interview this time. Bit confused after interviewing for G9 end of last year and being placed on the reserve list but perhaps this has something to do with my place on that? Good luck to those with interviews coming up, found my interviewers very friendly.

Firstly, I received the Pre-learning course plan yesterday, and it seems like for the first 2 weeks, each day only requires a maximum of 3 hours. Is that all I will need to do for those days?
Also, during Signal school, I'll be in York. Could you tell me which hotel I'll be staying in? I only live an hour away, so I'd rather take the train. But if the hotel is far from the station, it might be better to drive. Does the hotel have a gym?

This is odd, I just an email saying they plan to respond to people within the next two weeks on weather been offered an interview. Been waiting for 5 weeks since job closed so looking like its another two weeks till i know. This is a long winded process

Hi Larryloaf,
The course content for pre IST is quite short for 10 days. however on day 1 you are extremely unlikely to have IT access to get it done. There are also going to be mandatory training modules not on the course plan such as Diversity, Security etc so it bulks up a little.
It might vary by where you do your Pre-Ist but in Ipswich they like to take you on some infrastructure visits to get an insight into the running of the railway. As well as potentially some hands on practice with the simulator before you start.
It all depends on the person who's looking at the applications. I found this when I applied for 2 different openings (both grade 2 boxes) at the start of last year, one I got an interview for and the other one I didn't.
Didn't make sense so I asked for feedback and for the one I didn't get an interview for I basically hadn't bigged up network rail enough in my application answers but the same application was good enough for an interview for the other role.

I started on Monday. No IT access first day, so played catchup yesterday. Today was a visit to IST location, next week visit the ROC, with box visits thrown in too.
E-learning is just one aspect of the first two weeks. It’s not as heavy as we all anticipate IST to be though.
