Kings Cross to Welwyn

I was browsing the web a while ago, and I found out from the UK Train Sim forums that a company known as Oovee (I haven't a clue who they are) are making a Kings Cross to Welwyn route.

I've been keeping a look out, but so far, heard no news, other than the fact that it's expected to be available sometime in 2011. Does anybody know when, or know anything about the development?

As a regular passenger on the Great Northern, I would definitely like to get it when/if it becomes available.

No more news as yet. But as for who Oovee are, creators of the 156 and 57, two of the most advanced pieces of stock we have had yet for RW.

I'm definitely looking forward to the arrival of the route. Who knows, they might even expand it and head up to Cambridge and Peterborough.

Announcing the Great Northern Railway

Oovee is proud to announce its development of the Kings Cross to Welwyn Garden City route also known as the “Great Northern Line” which will include a BR Class 313 EMU – The route will feature highly realistic line-side equipment, stations, signals and close-range urban buildings.

Having unprecedented access to resources, we are eager to recreate the Great Northern Line as accurately as possible. A new shadowing process will also allow us to recreate the virtual world with more depth and vision.

OHLE (Over Head Line Equipment) licensed from Thomson Interactive from their incredibly detailed GARL route will allow us to speed through the electrification process more efficiently. Signals have been custom designed by Oovee and represent the signals found on the real route.

We also hope to have fully function “neutral sections” which will prototypically cut-off power to the locomotive or multiple unit when travelling through the section(s). TPWS speed limits will be based on real life data so learning the route will be critical.

Expected release time is currently unknown but we do aim for some time in 2011, price is also to be announced once route has been complete or almost completed.

Even though I've yet to get to grips with Rail Works, (I prefer Open BVE having started off with MSTS), I look forward to seeing the final result.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the result too. There's a great add on for MSTS that lets you drive from Kings Cross to Peterborough. I hope that the route lives up to my expectations and possibly gets expanded to Peterborough and Cambridge in the future as well.

Let's just say out of personal preference, I would prefer the guys at Making Tracks to do the MSTS addons and let European Bahn concentrate on the Flight Sims.

That aside, I rather play SimSig (Kings Cross) - you might not be driving but it's more fulfilling and challenging at times.

As to the Oovee route, I would like them to eventually do Kings Cross and Moorgate to Letchworth then maybe continue onto Royston and Peterborough but for now Letchworth via Welwyn and Hertford would be great

I couldn't agree more. The Letchworth to Kings Cross route is pretty good on MSTS, and they also have the Hertford loop. I was disappointed that similar routes weren't made for Trainz. And indeed, on Railworks, the Kings Cross to Peterborough route would be fantastic. Letchworth is a key station on the FCC map, so it can only be a matter of time before something is developed. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

I also saw a creation of a Class 91 East Coast Livery around somewhere too.

I think if Oovee are taking up the challenge, we can be assured it will be top quality stuff.
