Good Evening All
Details are as follows:
- its not often I use the train service (and the below is a prime example of why);
- purchased ticket(s) using Trainline.com to travel from Barnsley>Sheffield>Ilford(London)
- was expecting to receive an e-ticket but for some reason had to collect paper tickets from station, which I duly did;
- scheduled 1st leg from Barnsley>Sheffield (Northern Trains) was cancelled, but fortunately the next service allowed me to make my 2nd leg EMR connection Sheffield>LondonSTP which itself departed late;
- boarded train and took my pre-booked seat;
- sometime later EMR 'ticket inspector' came and asked for tickets;
- checked my pockets, luggage and even the bin (behind the seat as I'd just discarded some paper), all to no avail;
- my tickets were nowhere to be seen and despite me showing the email as 'proof of purchase', she wasn't having any of it which is understandable;
- she issued me with a PFN of £100+£38 and was advised that if I found my tickets, she would cancel the FPN or I could request to do so via the appeals process;
- I again checked my pockets, luggage and then decided to retrace my steps in the carriage;
- fortunately, I found both stubs (for the 2legs) and the purchase receipt on the floor of the foyer, just as you enter the carriage;
- on asking the conductor as to the whereabouts of the 'ticket inspector' I was informed that she had already alighted the service at the previous stop;
- I submitted an appeal online at www.penaltyservices.co.uk with a photo of the stubs/receipt, only to have it rejected (please see attached pics);
- A slight amendment/correction to my initial appeal (and dont know if it makes any difference??) in that I retraced my steps after the 'ticket inspector' left the carriage, but no idea how long thereafter she alighted the train.

Any advice/suggestions welcome......and many thanks in advance.
Regards - NTIAEP
