Nicest Looking Loco/Unit in the world?

Just want your opinions on the nicest looking train that has been or is in service. I quite like:

Still my personal vote would be for an IC225 in Swallow livery, not the best photo I could find but I can't be bothered looking much beyond wikipedia:

Hmm where to start? The Peoples Republic of China have some nice locos, see the DF11 (the diesel one) and the SS3 (the electric) are very smart locos. I also quite like the QJ (kettle) but I don't have any pictures of them

Unit wise, Has to be either the 180 or Irish Rails 22000 - A unit that we could very much do with over here too!

Perhaps but to be honest that's a rubbish shot of the Swallow livery anyway.

Now see I don't think IC125s particularly suit that livery either dunno why something to with the yellow I think.

Oh thankyou. Yes the second picture (of D1041) does it for me. There is something stirring about it downtrodden yet heroic with 12 on. Would that be a 4 car Voyager now then ?.

I agree with Ivo, IC 125. Perfection. Livery wise it has to be the original blue livery.

Seconded. Amazing looking trains. Plus the Intercity livery to me is the best livery we have seen in a long time. That livery, and the swallow sitting proudly on the side.
I quite like that picture as from that angle it really shows the sleek lines of the 91.
I also have to add in 47s, 90s and HSTs. The HST is just iconic, whilst the 47s and 90s are pure cute!! Look at a 47 end on (one of those with the marker lights), and tell me it isnt smiling at you!!!!

Units wise. Its a 156, with a 158 close behind. Another two cute looking trains!!

I like HST's, I love Class 91's (especially in GNER livery) but the smartest Train I ever saw was the one in my avatar!

Nothing is yet to beat it! There's just something about it that is stunning, even more so in the Blue and Red of GNER!

For Loco's again the 91's but Mallard or Silver Link and also Duchess of Hamilton with full Streamliner casing! Have you seen it at the NRM?

Others include any of the A4's, the APT-E and Prototype Deltic, Light Blue with the wings on the front is also head turning!

But all in all, I'm yet to see an ugly train, well until I saw the new 380's....who comes up with the fronts of these things!

357s are boring and lack character. Even the neighbouring 321s have that, and otherwise are pretty much useless! (I know, most disagree on that, but most on here didn't grow up in a town that has both.)

As stock goes, Southend must be pretty much the most boring major town in the country. I might have to start a thread about that actually!

the 357s are OK - and they have been very reliable though.

I know how bored you feel as I was cut off in North Kent with just EPBs to travel on. A pacer in a tunnel is a more enjoyable journey.

Someone mentioed Deltics - the noise did it for me all that power wedged in somehow. Compare Deltics and Westerns to er sheds .

Wow. I thought id seen it all when I saw the class 70s! That is one ugly beasty. It looks impressive, but also looks one ugly beastie. Wouldnt argue with the thing though!!

As far as I'm aware the Locos cannot run on their own as part of the engine set up is also part of the first divisable carriage. They can however be split in half and run as one loco and 7 coaches, this is a safety precaution to do with them travelling through the Chunnel!

Hes not on his own I'm afraid.

I like Class 357s, there very handsome units indeed. One of the things that diffrent from what I've heard is Class 170s have a longer body (23m) whilst 357s are a bit shorter. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone.

Anyhow loco wise, Class 70s, 67s, 20s.

EMU/DMU wise: 465, 357, 411, 220s/222s.

Another person with great taste being a 'Networker' person myself, only diffence is I prefer Class 465s hence my username!
