Essentially the main difference in facilities for passengers between 333s and 331s will just be tables and 2+2 seating. They both have air con, some form of power sockets and a single toilet.
Tables, armrests, pull down trays, 2+2 seating, reservation systems (admittedly not used currently), advanced LCD PIS, etc. but yes, the essentials for a 1 hour journey are definitely in both. I didn't actually know 333s had had plug sockets fitted with the refurbishment, although I'd assumed they'd presumably get a USB port. I've cleared the class, but as I'm not a big fan of them (despite liking the 332s very much) I never paid much attention whenever on board.

They are USB charging ports not 3 pin plugs

It looks like northern are purposefully putting 002 on busy trains in and out of Leeds, it was on the 1715 Leeds to Ilkley yesterday, 1722 Leeds to Doncaster today having being swapped off the triangle this morning, tonight it ends its day at Doncaster (subject to any late swaps) and will probably be put on a busy arrival and may find its self on a busy Skipton this week. They'll be assessing if a 3 car can take the normal amount of passengers without leaving people behind
Not at all the case. It’s simply a case of we now have a mixed 331 fleet and we’ve got 3 weeks of them being put out randomly until the new timetable starts when they’ll then go onto their booked turns which will be constantly reviewed once started. The maintenance plan until then also has to be taken into consideration.

No good for those wanting to charge their Macs or newer iPads/Airpods/iPhones then, but better than nothing.
It depends how much you value such things on a max 40 minute journey.

Many can be done without, but I certainly like to have somewhere to put down my drink on a morning journey, and if my phone or laptop dies than those forty minutes provide invaluable charging time. You’re right though, those frills can more or less be done without on such a journey though.

The thing with the 333’s is that they are short hop commuter trains. I’ve used these trains very regularly since they were introduced in 2001 and they do exactly what is required of them. The maximum journey time is 40 minutes but I would put the average journey length on them at 20 minutes.

They are reliable workhorses that swallow and distribute large crowds of people, in short bursts of time on some of the busiest and intense services outside London. That is what people want from a commuter train.

I suspect if you asked the average commuter what they wanted from their commuter service things like tables and chargers would be way below important things like reliability, capacity, cleanliness, working air con/heating etc…..

No I completely agree, completely, I only brought it up because people tend to get used to luxuries like this when they’re temporarily brought in and then complain when lost - even if they were never really needed in the first place. I’m thinking of how many Cambridge GA users kicked off because they lost their 379 flipperies, when they’d done perfectly well with 317s for years before the half-decade or just over they got the shiny 379s for.

Similarly, I had wondered if, despite being used to 321s for years, anyone complains about losing the flipperies they’ve come to expect as standard in the few years 331-1s have been the mainstay. Average hops are probably far lower even still though actually.

I'd imagine that the 333s would give a much smoother ride on the 100mph section between Wakefield and Doncaster than the 331s which rattle around like crazy. The Leeds to Doncaster services are a bit odd in my experience, in that they are either very busy or fairly quiet, but I'd imagine that the increased seating capacity of a 333 compared to both subclasses of 331, whilst still being comfortable whilst quite, unlike Northern's 150s.

Speaking of the 333's Has any of them been fitted with Train FX yet? And are they be done at Doncaster or Neville Hill?

Also, How many of the 3 car 331s are we getting in Total? is it 12 for 12? 12 for 14? Or 12 for 16?

9 331/0s for all 12 331/1s for now until platforms are extended on the triangle.

The east side will have lost a net 21 Class 331 carriages to the west side when the swap is complete (3*4+9). But the west side will have lost 60 Class 319 carriages to scrap by the December timetable change (15*4).

Sharing the pain across the Pennines.

We're supposed to be getting more 3 car 331s when the Triangle stations are ready for 6 car operation.

But i'm not sure how many we'll get.
Once the platforms been extended on the triangle as I have stated and the wmt 323s start transferring next year.
But knowing northern could change.
Do you know how many more 3 car units we'll eventually get?

Nope, I haven't seen any changed at the moment.

If I do, I'll let you all know on here.
Does anyone know if the 333s will get TrainFX done at Donny or Neville Hill?
