Do all Edinburgh to Dundee trains take the same route ?

I am planning a return trip from Edinburgh to Dundee for January and was wondering whether all trains take the same route.

It looks like only Scotrail and LNER use this route, with some trains having only 3 intermediate stops.. Haymarket, Cupar and Leuchars while others have several.

It doesn't really matter how many stops, I just want to make sure I can see the Firth Forth at least as far as Kirkcaldy, before the train heads inland.

Yes as far as I'm aware they all go the same way. I think they now run many which run "fast" (the route isn't fast) from Haymarket to Leuchers.

There is the Fife Circle but I *think* all trains going that way turn around and head back to Edinburgh. You could do a loop of the Circle but the inner part isn't very scenic and you'll miss the fantastic Tay Bridge.

You can double check with Realtime trains, if your service passes through Inverkeithing, Burntisland, Kirkcaldy, etc you're all good.

The journey from Dundee to Aberdeen is also fab if you're looking for a longer trip.
