5Q58 Bomo - Widnes, 20/11

Afternoon all,

Glimpse of a 47 with something in tow at a stand approaching Eastleigh this afternoon, I thought (almost certainly wrongly) there was a hint of 442 behind the loco & barriers; red cab ends - I assume not! Maps suggest it might be 5Q58, although it isn’t scheduled to have left Bomo until 17:11 this evening.

Any thoughts?!

Should be 47727 & 56081 with 458524 as that's the next 458 to go. Was due to go a few weeks ago after they dropped one already finished back to Bournemouth, but was a failed attempt and returned back to Bournemouth Depot later on that evening.
But seems its at Eastleigh way ahead of schedule !!

Very interesting that it has made it to Eastleigh, over 2 hours before it should be leaving Bournemouth, without showing as passing through any stations on RealTime Trains apart from the "Approaching" textbox next to every station name.

It has now disappeared off the maps - presumably into some part of Eastleigh Works - hopefully not a sign of a repeat of the last attempt to take this 458 to Widnes.

I was watching the opentraintimes map at the time and the ID switched to the up direction berth just as as the up signal went to green. If it’s not continued up the line I think it’s more likely to be in east yard.

Update at 1900, 5Q58 has re-appeared, reported northbound at Allbrook junction at 1840, on lines DR/US, which is a normal route out of East Yard. RTT has now updated to the extent all those “approaching” reports are now missing, and all timing points south of Eastleigh now show ‘no report’.
