The final trip abroad for the year started with flying to Berlin, then working down to Vienna via Usti nad Labem, Prague, Linz and Graz. Required locos and power cars had along the way were as below - large number of German locos as an increasing number of locos in other countries (particularly those owned by leasing companies) are registered in Germany.

A trip to Liverpool to visit a few Merseyrail stations produced these.
This time, I did win the lottery as my last 350 turned up on my booked train from LIV to Stafford on the way home.
Onward LNR from STA was cancelled, so got a bonus Avanti 390 and arrived 10 early.

11/11:
196105 (Wolverhampton - Birmingham New Street)

Cleared for a mile:
West Midlands Metro Tram 27

Another 196/1 into my book, still need to start with the 2 coach units but those are more difficult to get over ten miles as I can't use a Daytripper. Trams were chaotic around 16;30 with grouping (5 trams at Town Hall within 15 minutes with a couple getting turned back at Library)

A return from Longbridge to Bromsgrove added to a Daytripper should enable 196/0 haulage for over ten miles, although only one return journey and it doesn't help that the two diagrams follow each other. The other trick is to build in a journey from Coventry to Nuneaton or Leamington to Coventry on your way to the Midlands.

Agreed, means a hour fester in Bromsgrove with a return to Worcester to do the two diagrams linearly. Excluding the PM depot throw out (assuming that the 17:50-odd Malvern train is a 196 on a Saturday)

Annoyingly Coventry to Leamington is just shy of ten miles as that was my original theory

Haven't you?

If all three diagrams are running, then it's easy... 16.44 Fenchurch Street to Limehouse, be at the front of the 4th carriage from the back and you're directly opposite the stairs... dash down and up to the other platform, get the first train back to Fenchurch Street and that puts you on the 17.16... repeat, and that gives you the 17.43... so half the fleet for haulage in 59 minutes...

Although sadly doesn't help if you need things for ten miles, as I think the 2nd diagram (17:43) doesn't call at Upminster so requires an extra ticket towards Chalkwell if not further.

That's the third diagram, not the second, and correct - it's non stop from West Ham to Laindon.

One thing haulage hunters need to be aware of is that the first diagram ( 16.44 ) is the one most likely to revert to 357s if there's any issues on the day.

Indeed, thankfully RTT helps with that. no point dashing to Fenchurch if it's 357

I really need a half day from work to head to London for the evening peak again. This is when I miss finishing at 14;30 on Fridays (as I could be in London for 16;20 assuming I make the 14;59 train).

444036 (what's that up to on an Alton service?)
450003, 450117
455902 (last serviceable one I needed AFAIK)

LU: 21533/21534

(Also, for the Quail-level track-coverers, travelled "wrong line" from West Brompton to the crossover between the site of the former Battersea station and Latchmere No.2 Junction, then used the crossover to return to Left Hand Running, thanks to something breaking in the tropic of Kensington)

18/11:
197050 [Chester - Crewe]
197105 [Shotton - Chester → Flint]
197108 [Crewe - Chester]
197109 [Chester - Shotton & Flint - Chester]

230008 [Shotton - Upton]
230010 [Bidston - Shotton]

777005 [Eastham Rake -> Hamilton Square (Via Liverpool City Loop)
777011 [Liverpool Lime Street -> Bache]
777031 [Chester -> Liverpool Lime Street]
777036 [Birkenhead North -> Leasowe (Via Liverpool City Loop)

A couple of the 2 coach 197s escaped me (197006 which got turned back at Crewe due to running late & 197043 which was on a late night Crewe - Shrewsbury train which I was toying to take to Whitchurch but it was delayed at Crewe and didn't fancy 45 minutes at Whitchurch at midnight waiting for a late running train from Birmingham]. Also had a lucky escape in not chasing down 777006 after Bache as it ran nonstop from Birkenhead to Hooton.

25/11:
231003 (Heath High Level to Bargoed)

Class cleared :) Sadly what RTT was saying would have been 197110 turned out to be 67015 & 197045 got reallocated to work a Manchester train rather than the 10:05 Carmarthen, but hey-ho those things happen
