Spending Rail Travel Vouchers

Hi

Its not very clear on the voucher, but can me and my partner use £70.00 worth of vouchers for 2 single tickets from London to Glasgow and still use our railcards?

You can buy any ticket you like, but it must be bought at a rail station, not online

Is that an EC train or Virgin? Either way, you can use your vouchers (but as MikeW says, you need to buy the tickets at a ticket office). If it's EC, you won't get the 10% online discount, so the tickets would be £73.30 (ish).

Its an East Coast train, had i have read properly it is a "web fare" will the ticket office staff at Glasgow Central not have the same discounts on there screen or will it be the 73.30 fare for us?

I can't find anything under £75.05 for the single ticket though. A return ticket is an extra 65p, valid to come back within a month.

It's an Advance - EC advertise theirs as being a "web only fare" since it includes the 10% discount for booking through eastcoast.co.uk.

That's correct. I find it somewhat annoying that not even East Coast give you an electronic voucher which you can use to buy tickets online when you receive compensation from them due to their delays. Surey some sort of voucher code, similar to an Amazon Gift Voucher, could be issued instead of a paper voucher?

I don't know if WEBTis supports that. I believe FGW has a solution whereby you phone up and hold the itinerary and then post in the vouchers, and you get the same price as you would have got online.

Yes FGW Telesales will allow that, but there's no saving over buying from a ticket office. FGW don't discount their own APs when bought online via their website.
