Kidsgrove to Lincoln - 2 Changes?

Hi all,

Quick one,

I want to travel to Lincoln and back on the 11th November using an Off Peak Return, and my ticketing app is using Split tickets to save money (fine) but then it is asking me to change twice.

Surely it would be easier for me to just change at Nottingham Outward and Inward?

Am I able to do this if the tickets are split at Long Eaton?

Are your split tickets definitely Offpeak Returns? Then all you need to be sure of is that your Kidsgrove to Nottingham/Newark train calls at Long Eaton.

Could you post the suggested times - it might be possible to see what the app is doing.

Yes they are definitely Off Peak Returns

So Outbound:
10:23 Train to Newark Castle from Kidsgrove, arrives Long Eaton at 11:31

12:01 Train to Nottingham from Long Eaton, arrives Nottingham 12:16

12:38 Train to Grimsby Town from Nottingham, arrives Lincoln 13:32

Inbound:
17:31 Train to Leicester from Lincoln, arrives EMP 18:44

18:54 Train to Sheffield from EMP, arrives Long Eaton 18:59

19:31 Train to Crewe from Long Eaton, arrives Kidsgrove 20:45


As far as I can tell both trains in Both directions pass through Nottingham, and between Kidsgrove and Nottingham both pass Long Eaton, so really unsure why it wants me to go to East Midlands Parkway on the return

Maybe connection times forcing you to go on a quicker train in order to make the connection without spending longer at Nottingham using fewer trains.

Potentially, I'd rather spend longer at Nottingham though, at least I can sit in a coffee shop instead of being in the middle of nowhere on a tiny station platform!

I can't see any reason why you shouldn't change at Nottingham or indeed Newark.

If you want your preferred itinerary, can you ask the app to allow you more time to change trains? Or to have only one change?

How random, I agree with @North-Valiant it would be better to sit at Nottingham station even if for a longer time than at the likes of Long Eaton or East Midlands Parkway (and boarding the Crewe train at Nottingham could give a better chance of a seat compared to Long Eaton). At least Nottingham has shops close to the station.

It's also one less connection which could go wrong.
