I have a journey planned to Birmingham in early November, and tried to pick out a Voyager using Realtime, as I hate the Pendolino bike arrangement.

Instead, I found a route in the evening operated by a 'Class 80x on electric'

Does this refer to the new class 805/807 trains which I thought would be introduced only in December?

I heard Realtime is very accurate but I have personally seen them get it wrong when they predicted a Voyager which became a 390 instead.

As it will be the new timetable from December it's likely it's just the timings may be for the forthcoming 805/7s but I could be wrong.

Only one 807 has been built and is still under going test. None have been accepted by Avanti.

It will just be the path timed to be an 807 and will not be operated by one.

Real Avanti Voyagers as used on the Chester/North Wales/Shrewsbury services are still shown on RTT, both before and after the December timetable change, as "DMU" or "diesel locomotive", switching from one to the other where the wires start (Crewe/Wolverhampton).

With the 807s not due to enter service for quite some time given the fact that none have even been accepted by Avanti yet to even start crew training, it is fair to say you will not be travelling on one. The Chester/Holyhead routes are where the Voyagers are mainly used, apart from a rare Glasgow diagram later in the day, so plan to travel on one of these if you are requiring a Voyager for any particular reason.

RealTimeTrains is not trying to predict the stock that will be used for a particular service. It is reporting the timing information that is used by the operator to generate the schedule - and often these include class information. There is no guarantee, or even vague suggestion, that any particular service will definitely end up being operated by the same type of train used to generate the schedule.

The only time that you can take any sort of indication that a particular type of train will operate a service is when the allocation shows up on the day for the operators signed up to send that information over. And even then, it might get changed at the last minute.
