The usual NMT flying banana run headed West down the Newbury line about 75 late today, having headed into Reading Depot via the Kennet loop and platform 15. Never known this happen before, assume fuelling (?). I didn't spot how it escaped again. Not sure a HST has been in Reading Depot before, did anyone get a snap?

The "flying banana" developed a fault on Thursday 19th October at Exeter Central and instead of heading back up the WoE line as usual I understand went back via Bristol, possibly related?

One of the power cars failed, so the train couldn’t reverse at Exeter New Yard as it usually does on that run. Instead it had to carry on with the working PC leading to Westbury to rendezvous with a fitter.
Yes, in to the TCD for fuel. It’s a regular occurrence when the NMT is down our way. Usually comes in on a Thursday evening, gets serviced then it goes over to the old Reading Upper Sidings to stable.
We were unable to accommodate it on Thursday evening, as it was late running, so it was arranged for the NMT to drop in yesterday morning.
We’ve had HSTs on Reading TCD in the past. Stabled due to faults or disruption; visiting the wheel lathe and for overnight servicing when there has been no access to OOC due to engineering blockades

I am told that 1Q16 is tonight (Wednesday) running with 43 013 (all yellow livery) and 43 277 which means that the 1Q23 on Thursday and 1Q18 on Friday are planned to run the same power cars.
I plan to photograph both 1Q23 and 1Q18 in the southwest regardless of the weather.

If it helps, when it came on to the TCD this evening for fuel, the Colas power car was on the London end of the formation, the yellow p/c at the country end.
