Ealing Broadway - rear stairs over platforms 3/4

Hi all - travelling through Ealing Broadway last night, I noticed that the stairs at the rear of the station (towards central London) are still blocked off and not in use.

Do we know why this is, or when they are likely to open? Given the length of the Lizzie line trains, it would be very helpful to have the rear stairs in action too!

They are for emergency use only. I remember a previous discussion, Crossrail’s announcement was quite clear about that.

That's odd. Do we know the reason why? And if for emergency use, they shouldn't be gated off surely?

It was said to be because if they had to evacuate a crush loaded 345 the west end stairs would not have enough capacity. Can’t answer why they’re gated.

Satellite imagery suggests they lead to an exit into a non-railway car park.
It also shows the bridge blocked between 2/3 and 1.
I assume the first is still true, but the second has changed?
