Just checking the latest updated and saw this.

14:00 London Kings Cross to Aberdeen due 21:12
Details:
This train is being delayed at Grantham. It will call additionally at: Grantham. This is due to disruptive passengers.

14:00 London Kings Cross to Aberdeen due 21:12
Details:
This train has been terminated at Grantham and restarted from Newcastle at 16:54.It will call additionally at: Grantham. It will no longer call at: Doncaster, York and Darlington. This is due to emergency services dealing with a prior incident.

Any one have any ideas what this is about and why it is then restarting higher up line. Guessing that would be with a different set.

Which TOC is this?

If you tell me I'll check it out on the internet. I imagine that it is a different set forming the restarted service. I had a similar experience a year ago on National Express.
In my incident, the train was terminated and everybody taken off. We had to wait for a new train to come along until we could continue our journey.

Looks like they've cancelled the 15:55 Newcastle>London to be the Aberdeen from Newcastle. So no further than Grantham?

Copied from WNXX...

...Black Friday looks to have spilled over to Monday, 1S19 term at Grantham ECS to York for Forensics after a pax was 'attacked' on board....

And why does it not surprise me to see the word "Glasgow" in a story about a stabbing? Train's going from London to Aberdeen, incident happened at Grantham, yet it's a Glaswegian involved...

The revised service (starting at Newcastle) is on its way North now and is on time according to East Coast. However, LDBs are saying it's been delayed and is still in England (obviously it's following the service that was cancelled at Grantham).

Wish BBC journalists would look up the meaning of 'evacuate'.

Sorry, but I don't see your point.

My dictionary gives one of three or four possible meanings of "evacuate" as "to remove inhabitants to a place of safety"

If someone was running amok in my carriage, I don't think I'd wait to be told to alight!!

That is the way it has been corrupted over time, the original defintion that I was told is correct is:

1.
a. To empty or remove the contents of.
b. To create a vacuum in.

or

2. To excrete or discharge waste matter from (the bowel, for example).

Should really be "The train was evacuated" not "the passengers were evacuated".

When you put it like that it does sound as if things may have gotten rather messy, what with all those passengers evacuating themselves all at once

From watching the news in recent years, it seems to me that there's more incidents of knife crime in England, particularly London than there is in Glasgow, these days! :o

No, you'd be evacuating yourself ;)

Lol, that would be the quote I'd give the BBC.

Out of the two, I'd probably pick Glasgow to be safer. Depends on what area it is, but still Glasgow has a reputation which is a bit harsher than it deserves.

Well said, having lived here all my life apart from four years in Edinburgh (where I was mugged incidently) I've never witnessed anything worse than a Saturday night punchup! We are like any big city, it has it's good areas and it's bad. If you stay out of the bad you're pretty much going to be ok! So come on everyone visit Glasgow, it's a brilliant place, beautiful architecture including the wonderful Central Station, great shopping, friendly people (well 99% of them), great scenery nearby, a new Transport museum opening soon! What more do you want! :)

More than likely, seems as if funding for adverts to attract tourists to different parts of the UK is getting cut. Good for me, means less southerners in the nice bits of the NE.

Well, probably not good for local businesses, which is worrying as we're still in a recession. Plus the TV adverts that the Passionate People, Passionate Places campaign produced were actually very good at attracting people to the area.
