TfW withdrawals (Now just 150/158s to go)

Just to be different, today two 175s are out on the Cheltenham-Maesteg route which hasn't seen any since Sunday.

175109 operated 1V38 0558 Crewe to Carmarthern as far as Cardiff, where it was swapped and then worked the 0908 to Cheltenham.

AFAIK it's never been in the shed or certainly not for a long time. It's been sat in the same place outside for months.

Seems to be 3 of the 175s out today. 2 of them on Maestegs and 1 on Ebbw Vale. I wonder if the intention is to keep them on these routes now even if they have booked workings to Manchester still.

It could be would make sense then if one fails it shouldn’t take too long to rescue it.

The idea of a 175 on something like Ebbw Vale both intrigues and confuses me, it would be something I'd enjoy doing but it's a bit of an expensive trip to South Wales just to do a 175 to Ebbw Vale

The end of an era is definitely close, it'll be a sad day when there's no more 175s on TfW!

i remember i took a ride up to Ebbw Vale about 4 years ago and a 175 happened to be working it on the up journey by coincidence! Ive never had one to Maesteg or Cheltenham however.

Looks like only 1 of the 175's was out today on a Cheltenham-Maesteg. It seems its been several days since they have been on the Marches/West Wales routes.

It is a sad twist of fate that a 25-year-old dedicated middle-distance unit is being replaced by 40-year-old commuter units on certain routes. That's Coradia reliability for you, I guess!
I've had just the one trip on them, Piccadilly-Stockport in ATW days. I am hopefully going down the Marches in three weeks or so, but I don't think my preferred train is a 175 diagram and it might be too late anyway...

101 is fairly unlikely to go back out on W64 as its booked a pair of 197s which split in Manchester.
It could happen but more likely it'll get swapped out at Canton

RTT now shows W64 as 197049 + 197014 + 197044 + 197051. Obviously it won’t be all four.

175113 was until it failed yesterday, it’s now at Chester. Don’t think it’s “off the books” though I suppose that depends on what the failure was and whether they repair it for what must be a matter of a few weeks more service!

Today 5Q79 14:00 Crewe South Yard to Landore Traction Maintenance Depot was 175102 that I saw at Shrewsbury. Is it off for further storage, scrap, repairs or will it come back into service? First time I've seen a 175 at Shrewsbury for a while.
