Spot on although even 'most' seems a bit strong, most of the people I've talked to won't be watching but will be taking advantage of the Bank Holiday.
I'll be following you down the DVD route, might watch all the episodes of Red Dwarf :p

I can choose not to watch it but when umpteen adverts appear on billboards, during ad breaks on shows I do watch, when it's on the front page of the papers while I'm shopping then I really don't have much choice.

Plus is annoys me when they call her common, I know it's true (like describing a happy time as gay is also true) yet the definition of common has changed and under common usage she definition is not common.

Agreed. I don't know of anyone who is going to watch the wedding on TV, travel to London or have/attend a street party. I realise that the circles I move in ar ehardly representative of greater society, but it seems to me that there is unlikely to be majority of flag waving royalists transfixed by the ceremony!

The emdia generated hype is hard to avoid, I really wish I;d followed my instinct and taken an early Summer holiday abroad!

I won't be watching it either, its just another wedding they happen everyday, the diffrence being its someone royal getting married and to be completely honest I couldn't give a s**t and neither do many other people.

What I resent most of all is the media implication that if you're not celebrating it then you're not a true Briton

I will probably have it on in the background but I won't just sit there and watch it. Probably get on with some Uni work or just occupy myself on here or various other websites.

Mrs Greenback has pointed out that the establishment want everyone to join in the celebrations as this will assist in establishing the idea of The Big Society.

However, I also resent the implication that if you are not celebrating the wedding you ar ein some way unpatriotic. I am very patriotic to my country, but I have no interest whatsoever in the couple or their in laws. The whole thing is a matter of supreme indifference to me.

Not those sort of projects, more the ones you watch/read about, and think 'What the ****, what a load of ***** to spend our money on'.

I'm not bothered either way to be honest. Clearly its going to be plastered all over the TV but the upshot of it is that I could have been at work like any other day, so full coverage on TV in exchange for a day off isn't so bad.

Of course! That's what The Big Society is!

Good luck to all those who are interested in the Royal Wedding. I'm not, but I don't want them lined up against a wall! As long as I'm left alone to go to the pub, have a pie and get mildly drunk, I'll be quite content.

As long as it's not on the pub TV! :D

I'll be in a pub with no TV in a small village in Oxfordshire, listening to some very loud live music and getting merrily sozzled throughout the afternoon and evening (Old Hooky and two guest ales on tap), so I doubt I'll be sparing much thought for the royal wedding that day. I am however very pleased that I have the day off work to do this, and even better than that, thanks to the arrangement of bank holidays I've only had to take three days of leave to get eleven days of Easter break off work!

I'm not interested in it, and nor is the rest of my town to that matter. Only one street in the whole of Droitwich Spa has applied to have a street party. That's about 100 people out of a population of about 25,000. One word....FAIL

Good to see the majority of the users on this forum arn't raving royalists, more people are saner than what I thought. For these past two weeks I have blocked out the news because I dont want to hear about some spoilt toffs wedding. The thing I hate most about the wedding is the fact that, they are flaunting their wealth and opulance in front of a lot of poverty stricken people, that can barely afford weddings.

The torys seem to assume that people on benefits are thieves and scroungers, but we are celebrating the wedding of the biggest scroungers of this country.

Anyway during that bank holiday my Dad and I will be enjoying the filth and the Fury DVD. Very appropriate.

A few days ago I went to York by train, there was wedding stuff everywhere, it was like a disease spreading over the city. Someone had even stuck a poster to the inside of their window on an east coast service

If I see any wedding posters on my train.....;)

I once saw some idiot peel a no-smoking sign off the train doors and stick it onto his wallet.

The train had just departed Stevenage.
