I'm pretty sure it's just the 2200. One of my friends did it a few months ago.

thanks for your help...not so keen on travelling on sleepers alone or sharing alone if you get me drift so may have to find a different way to visit Istanbul

Its a very good train ride, to do - Ive done it myself and I can always offer you some advice if you want to travel to Istanbul.

I went from the Balkans to Istanbul via Thessaloniki and the line was closed around the Turkish Border due to a landslip . I had to take an Overnight bus and it was v comfortable .

AFAIK There is not a seated coach on this train so you will need a berth/couchette reservation. On my last trip a pair of jaikies were trying to beg the fee because they only had an interail pass. They also didn't have any dosh for the turkish tourist tax - sorry visa at the border.
