So this is my post ok I stupidly got the train this week twice and didn't tap in. I tapped out but not tapped in however both taps that I didn't tap in I was asked for ticket on board the train and tapped my phone. So I have 2 revenue ticket inspections showing as failed in one week. I called tfl and I said it must have worked as my this is the first week I've used my phone to do it. I've always used my card and never had a problem. They have refunded the journeys bit the charge will inspection warning will always stay on there. What I'm asking am I going to get a fine or prosecuted for this. Will they check cctv and see the first time I forgot to tap in but tapped out and the second time it just didn't work. I was on the phone at the time so didn't concentrate on the system machine. It didn't work at my last destination as I was concentrating on it. Unlocked my phone reset the nfc thing and then it worked. When I called tfl he took my details for my account so I confirmed my address name email etc. Then he said he will look into. He asked me for my name again to spell it email address which I felt weird as I already gave it all to him and he eas in my account. He then said he will process the refund and charge me the amount the journey should have been. Sorry I have anxiety so being asked my details again I thought have they taken that to issue a fine etc.

Welcome to the forum.

You will not be subject to any further action over these two incidents. However, you've now used up your two lives. If it happens again then your card or device will be blocked from using TfL travel. You need to be extremely careful to ensure that you have touched in properly in future. Try to avoid any distractions at the time of touching.

The only thing that got me worried is that on the phone is asked me for my full address and that is something that is not needed to create an account. I have never been asked this before by them on the phone.

After the first 2 checks, it blocks and can be unblocked if you call TfL. After the 3rd failed check, it’s a permanent block.

Yes I have called them and they have unblocked. They said because I tapped the pink oyster machine which I always do and then tapped out at my final destination, they charged me from the pink oyster machine. It never tapped before that. Just my luck these 2 times it didn't work at my first station when I used my phone and I was inspected for my journey. I have been inspected before and never had a problem when I used my physical card. But its my fault I need to rememeber that I have tapped in. I'm just scared I get a letter of prosecution for this error I've made. They can see my previous journeys I do this journey around twice a week and I always hit the pink reader at the stop station between my departure station and last station. I probably don't even need to tap the pink but I see others do and it says if your changing trains to tap so I do. This journey always costs me around £3 in total and I wouldn't do it on purpose as I would be charged a higher price for a missing journey.

I do suffer with bad anxiety and I'm probably over thinking this. But I have never in my life not paid for a train or bus journey.

I have never heard about a failed revenue inspection going any further, at least not the first two. Please try not to worry.

A pink reader is intended to indicate the route taken on a journey that has different routes where some avoid zone 1 (or occasionally other zones). If you touch one when not touched in it will start a journey at that point, but it will never end a journey. If you can tell us the journey you make then we can advise whether touching the pink reader is actually necessary or not. It is very unlikely to have a negative effect if you do touch it though.

Sorry, but you have, at least twice.
Not intentionally and I've called them up and paid the correct amount

The default fare assumes that route so there is no need to touch the pink reader. Just make sure to touch the yellow ones at Hackbridge and imperial Wharf.
