Hello all, I'm sure this will be of interest to someone but had a email from UK Railtours yesterday giving a save the date heads up for a Euston to Manchester via Northampton and Cannock tour using class 50s, mainly for the Xmas markets in Manchester but I don't know if it goes into Manchester then the stock does a add on to somewhere else or that's it, but I can't remember 50s out of Euston since the Silverlink farewell tour, and that was a long time ago now

I like the look of it. Do you know how long of a layover you'd typically expect for Manchester?
Sorry don't know yet, but its supposed to be a tour for the Christmas markets in Manchester do it will be a few hours, whether the stock gers parked up or its doss a mini tour say to Blackpool or Liverpool with something GBRF i dunno

I think it'll be DB cargo. From my experience UK railtour only use GBRf south of the river

Could fit in a quick visit to the Christmas Model Railway Show which is on that weekend, 9 and 10 December organised by Manchester Model Railway Society - www.mmrs.co.uk/exhibition
Venue is Sugden Sports Club, Sidney Street, M1 7HB. I do not live in Manchester but would this be about 12 minutes walk from Piccadilly station? Then just have to hope/assume that the UK Railtours train is going into Piccadilly….

Hello all this tour is now live for bookings on the UK Railtours website
From Euston approx 0730 calling points Watford junc,Milton Keynes, Northampton and Rugby
Routing up to Rugby then Bescot,Walsall and Rugeley then up through Stoke and Macclesfield then through Denton to terminate at Man Vic
Then mini tour up to Preston via Horwich then back via Wigan and Atherton and Salford
Return via Crewe, Stafford, Walsall and Sutton Park then up to Nuneaton and back to London
Pity its not doing the full Trent valley line but still some quality old LMR track on offer there

Via Cannock Chase line rather than via Lichfield

I presume once they get a rough idea how many people are planning to bail at Manchester & how many are planning to stay on they will release the option to book on that little Manchester - Preston - Manchester tour as a standalone tour to make a bit of extra money.

You are of course correct I meant Rugeley but I typed Lichfield
And I would be amazed if they don't have a Manchester-Preston-Manchester fare

The Horwich Hoovers?
The Leyland Vacs?

(They can have these for free)
