Now that only 5 3-158s remain, I’m guessing they’re only booked for the Tarka now, which is 3 diagrams (alongside an evening 150 that moves from Okehamptons to cover the Axminster-bound 158) with 2 spare/for maintenance?

Note I said booked, as I’m well aware they’re often slipping on the last 158 Penzance diagram and the Portsmouth services.

4 diagrams for 5 sets with 1 spare for maintenance. They do the 3 Barney line diagrams and the diagram which starts with the 06.25 EXD - PNZ and returns on the late PNZ - EXD.

Only two diagrams on the Barnstaple line; the third is now a 165 or 166 ( at least this was the case on Friday, Saturday and Sunday last week ).

I don't the barny is booked a 16x, but has over the past few days been one. 16x's weren't allowed to be diagrammed for Barny turns before, but they can be put there ad hoc, something to do with local door operation and the positioning of "Harrington humps" at some stations, though not sure if this is the case.

Monday to Friday all 3 turns on the Barnstaple line are booked 3 car 158. But as we all know booked and actual can be different!

Quite a rare one today, and probably strike related, but todays 1F06 Westbury-Cardiff is a triple 2car 158

Bizarrely is advertised as reservations only and with trolley service

158958 running round as a 2 car unit today, working on the Portsmouth - Cardiff route. I'm assuming that 1 coach has been taken off due to it needing more maintenance so rather than have a 3 car sat doing nothing, they have allowed it to run as a 2 car instead (a bit like when they moved coaches around on a 150 after the Plymouth incident). Anyone on here able to confirm my suspicion?

Oh dear - that service appears to have had some big problems, took nearly an hour to traverse the Severn tunnel and was 107 late into Cardiff.

ps It seems that there are signalling problems in the STJ area, lots of heavy delays and cancellations.

Correct, some very big delays noted. There was a pair of 158s from Cardiff to Portsmouth reportedly 130 late today! My own delay was much shorter thankfully, the delays were still being felt later in the evening.

158958 is still running as a 2 car set today, it’s on workings in Cornwall at the moment coupled to 150263.

Do we know which carriage is missing please? I'd normally make an assumption with it but considering how some of the GWR 158s are set up, I'm not sure that would be the best idea

It's currently in the formation of 158776. I think it's the 746 coach that's missing

Well at least they're being sensible it's better to be a carriage down than a unit down. Especially if it's going to be any serious amount of time.

And 958 is still running as a 2 car. Here it is, with another Exeter exile (951) on the 08:28 Cardiff to Portsmouth turn today.

RTT showing a curious combination: 165/1 + 158. Surely not? I will keep an eye out...

It'll be an error with the feed, 165s and 158s can't couple in service - unsure about rescue.
