Ah. Okay.

Evening

I am confused now...

RTT have this allocated to 2 153s and 67015....is that actually correct?

Dave
It'll just have carried over incorrectly on the system when the allocations were changed.

A 67 and 153 aren't at all compatible to work together. In the tfw fleet the 15x/170 fleet are compatible with each other but 67s, 175s and 197s all can only work within their own fleets.

No, whoever is sitting in an office at NR doing the allocations has most likely forgot to de-allocate 67015
NR don’t do allocations, TOC controllers do. I’ve noticed RTT is very hit-and-miss when allocations are changed during the day, even when they show correctly in industry systems.

Afternoon

Can anyone help with the allocation for this please?

Thanks.

Dave
Planned for 67014+HD05 but it had a reported dragging brake earlier heading to Swansea so it depends if it's checked, repaired and deemed fit to go in time.

Any update as to whether it will be the 67 or a unit please?

Dave

Morning

Will this be the 5 car MK4 set? - because 67029 was the loco used to do the proving for the 5 car.....

Thanks

No, 029 did do some but several different locos did the proving runs.

There's currently no loco on the 5 car set but 67022 is heading down today to it for some testing.

Its now planned out 23rd October.

Would I be correct in assuming that there will be no 67/Mark 4 sets working during the week after next's Shrewsbury-Hereford blockade?....or will some be shuttling between Shrewsbury and Holyhead/Manchester?

Almost certainly won't be on Holyhead - Shrewsburys. Use on Manchester - Shrewsburys is complicated by the time penalty they experience between Crewe & Shrewsbury, the fact they can't stop at the request stops and and the need to keep Shrewsbury drivers off them, but those challenges aren't insurmountable.

Are the MK4 sets cleared to run around the blockade via Birmingham? Presumably the location of the sets then dictates which ones could do shuttles and/or maintenance schedules.

Does anyone know what engineering works they are doing?

Tfw have certainly not had them cleared that way, wether they were done when introduced by BR id have no idea but doubt they were. No TfW crews sign via Birmingham anyway There wouldn't be any reason to run them round there for maintenance purposes as there's main depots both sides of the block who can do pretty much anything. Would think the only way that anything will run avoiding the block is if there's a particular need to swap locos around which can be undertaken by DB just running a light loco to/from Crewe but that'll be pre-planned to avoid having to do that.

Thank you for confirming, much appreciated.

Mildly off topic, but presumably 150s would be cleared if it was needed to send more north to run the shuttle. My understanding is that TfW like to cycle their 150s through Canton. Maybe there is a chance we get a mostly 175 service on the north side of Shrewsbury.

The 15x fleet will be cleared as they've worked those routes previously with other operators but there's still nobody at TfW to crew it.
For such a relatively short term and pre-planned block, barring an emergency units wouldnt need to be swapped round.
Personally I've a feeling there won't be much if any booked 175s in the North during the block. There are/were plans to get a Mk4 or 2 out but as Craigybagel said it needs to avoid Shrewsbury drivers who dont sign it. Would think there will be a fair chunk of 197s during that time as with not going to Cardiff there'll be less diagrams.

That will not be too bad if it is 197s, as you say there will not be too many diagrams. I am just thinking that they will focus on Chester based units for the Northern half.

Hopefully give chance for some niggles with the Mk4 to get sorted ready for the line re-opening.

The 15x fleet can be taken via the HOW line in service if cycles are needed.

That's also closed in this blockade.

The sets themselves have all recently had their heaviest exams yet whilst at TfW, the last of which, HD06, Is booked a test run on Monday before re-entering service Tuesday. They can all then go 28 days between exams rather than 11 which has do far made a big difference to availability. This set has had various other work too and has been stopped for around 3 weeks at Canton.
The 67s have also been going through a programme of C exams and reliability mods so even without the blockade there's Been quite a bit of work going on. 67010 has been released today and 020 is planned have gone in to Crewe ETD for it's turn. I believe around half the loco fleet has now had this work.

Would make sense to keep as many 175s as possible South of the block, since they can work everywhere down there. 197s will be limited to Cardiff - Hereford shuttles, unless they can get them cleared for West of Cardiff by then.

Assuming they keep to the same pattern they've done in the past with blockades South of Shrewsbury and have 3 trains shuttling between Manchester & Shrewsbury, all of Shrewsbury's normal Manchester jobs would fall on the same train. But that's assuming the diagrams aren't altered too much from the norm, and there might be a need to use Shrewsbury drivers between Shrewsbury and Crewe covering what would normally be a Cardiff driver....
I'm sure all will be revealed in time.
