SR Dunblane services - 4 minute performance

Hi,

Does anyone know the reason for the 3/4 minute performance allowance on dunblane services in both directions around Newbridge junction. on most occasions it results in either sitting at Edinburgh park or Linlithgow for 4 minutes. Or trundling along at a very leisurely pace as the driver adheres to DAS. Seems very unnecessary. Most timing allowances, there are reasons for it, but this just seems to have been flung in without any real reason on almost every service. Thanks!

Judging by where it is, and the services it is in, I suspect it is for a stop at a new station at Winchburgh.

ScotRail services in general seem to have been slowed down by excessive amounts in recent years. I believe in this case it's because for a while post-electrification the Dunblane services were sped up by omitting Polmost and Linlithgow, with the Glasgow via Cumbernauld taking a slower path to serve these seeing as end-to-end journey times weren't of great importance.

However with these services gone, the Dunblanes have to serve Polmont and Linlithgow again, and seemingly the only way of doing this without ripping up the whole timetable was to move them to the old Cumbernauld paths. So previously the Dunblanes were roughly xx22 and xx52 off Edinburgh, and the Cumbernaulds were xx03 and xx33, but now the Dunblanes depart in these slots and take roughly 10 minutes longer to reach Stirling.
