Could you tell me the arrival time too please? If we're at Crewe for long enough my fiancee will want to get off for a cigarette!

Just to warn you that technically speaking it's no smoking on station platforms so your fiancée would actually have to leave station premises in order to have a smoke.

That doesn't stop the drivers doing it when they swap at Preston.

It is sometimes possible to get into Crewe 10mins before the departure time. You'll be pushing it for a fag though, considering youve got to leave the station. Crewe are quite hot on smoking in the station. Ive seen staff there follow someone smoking once, constantly shouting at him to put it out. Deaf twits. Id have put it out on his face. That would have taught him!!!

It passes Norton Bridge at 23:12...

then some TIPLOC code - CREWBHJ (Basford Hall Jn??) at 23:31.

I've actually seen the sleeper leave early from Crewe/Preston if nobody else is about...

Is it possible/usual to board the sleeper at Crewe?
Would a booked private berth (from Euston) be held open if I should change my plan and get to Crewe?

It is possible to board at Crewe (indeed, it's pick-up only).

If you had a berth booked from London and didn't take it, it could be occupied by someone else by Crewe - though from what I've read on here Scotrail are generally helpful so a phonecall to explain might see it kept for you (unless it's a Bargain Berth of course!).

I have tried to book bargain berths from Euston to Fort William, but they are quite difficult to find.
If I book Euston to a station North of Glasgow, how can I extend my journey to Fort William on the sleeper train? Is there a day carriage attached to the sleeper ?
