That is excellent news for the X40 and 72, should be 272 but whatever!
Only thing missing is the 63 so LCB can have two services to Kirkliston!

I was hoping the 72 would have gone to Winchburgh sports centre instead of Kirkliston since Kirkliston already has the x51 to Livingston. The residents in Broxburn have lost their swimming pool and this would have got the kids there at the weekends.

When does the new Northern Link road open? I wonder if the plan is reroute the service once that is open?
I drove past it today and I don't understand why they just don't open it already!
I don't think it would make a difference to the 72 as the bus currently arrives into winchburgh at the east side near tally ho pub so from there it's two options kirkliston or west winchburgh.

The tender spec was to serve the west end of Winchburgh before heading back east towards Kirkliston using the new road layout. However, initially the expectation was that buses would be able to turn somewhere around the new school, and head back along the main road.

841, 842, 843 and 846 have all moved to Seafield, which is interesting. This could just be getting the Lothian Country vinyls on and East Coast Buses stripped off.

I’m curious as to whether or not 841-850 are in better condition (in general not including the interior refurbishment) than 926-934. I’m surprised that they will keep the older buses rather than the older ones.

From what I’m told they are, as 928-936 are particularly tired from the near constant long distance working over the last 6 years.
The refurbishment to 841-850 has helped them to last much longer, while they also got a bit of a break while at Lothian Motorcoaches. They were very lightly used during that time.
Vehicles being Euro 6 compliant at this point shouldn’t make much of a difference, as everything is.

It seems to come out onto the A71 at Wester Hailes Road so probably not.

The A71 at Wester Hailes Road is after Burton’s so it should serve it.

Well that was released faster than I expected it would! Honestly it's a little disappointing that Ratho won't be served by the new X40 but gotta take what you can get! and if this is the way LCB can help build up their West Lothian network then so be it!

The Service 72 will definitely be used as it is a route that is very much in demand!
What you’ve got to remember is it will be West Lothian Council that has set out the route. They’ve obviously taken the decision for it not to serve Ratho. What I haven’t seen mentioned is weather the service 40 will still run by EMH.

The rumours are that E&M Horsburgh will not keep any public services and they will either be withdrawn or picked up by other operators, although we are venturing off-topic for this thread.
I think it will, doesnt look like it's doing a deer park stop by the map from the twitter image

Unless they haven't confirmed it for sure and they still have plans to stop at Deer Park, then again the X40 is apparently meant to serve the Fastlink too after Livingston and I didn't notice it on the map.

The problem is then where do you split it and where can you turn a bus in the centre with space for a layover. To keep good connections you'd probably have to turn the Balernos at Regent Road and the Wallyfords at Haymarket which would increase the number of buses trying to get along Princes St. The better solution (although costly and needs extra resource) would be to have sufficient layover time at the termini to recover delays.
The network probably needs a seperate summer timetable to cope with the additional passenger loads and congestion with additional time on all services using the city centre so they may be slower but more predictable , again that needs a lot more resources available
From the copy of the route maps (for drivers) that I have, service 72 will not serve Deer Park. Same with the X40 that will utilise the Fastlink after the centre to Lizzie Brice’s roundabout instead of going through Dedridge as per the current X40 route with EMH.

How does the x40 get to Calderwood from the A71? Is it going Via Mid Calder like the No40.

It's Serving Mid Calder then onto East Calder Main Street then Calderwood like the X27 does.

There is a lot of antisocial behaviour happening this evening with services 29, 46 & 48 diverted from Tesco Hardengreen and Gore Avenue.
I know it happens a lot but it's not fair on the customers living in areas affected and the drivers that have to put up with it.

I went through Tesco on a 29 about half an hour before they pulled buses, was a mob of about 40-50 youths at that point.
They thought it would be funny to push one of them in a trolley infront of the 139 ahead of me, they tried again with my bus and the trolley tipped over with the kid falling onto the road. Totally brainless.
