175101 is back out today for the first time in at least a week (I can’t see anything further than 7 days back) Possibly the first time it’s been out since it’s reforming?

It tagged along with 175113 on the 04:46 Chester - Crewe & 05:58 Crewe - Carmarthen as far as Cardiff and is now working solo on the 09:22 Cardiff - Holyhead, which has been delayed due to a fault on the train
Those are the first passenger workings for the reformed 175101.

175102 is currently in the Bache down goods loop opposite Chester DMU depot. Very unusual to see a unit in there.

175004 in the yard at Chester this evening.
It's recently been agreed in the last week or so for units to be kept there due to capacity issues in the station/yard - particularly at night

Does anybody have the info of when 004 and 011 were stood down (approx. is obviously fine, not looking for exact dates) and where they both currently reside please?
Looks like last pax working for 004 was on 1H80 (04:53 HHD-CTR) on 16th July coupled to 175116.

175011 went from Chester to Crewe Gresty Green on 16th June. Last pax working looks the be on the 6th June as 1V40 11:30 MAN-CDF. Followed by an empty stock from Canton to Chester on 8th June

Thank you :)

Is Gresty Green the sidings opposite the PAD Sidings?

Thank you for these. I travel on the 0713 from Pyle to Cardiff regularly so good to know its supposed to be a 175 diagram.

Mind ypu it was a nice surprise to have 175103 after control quickly decided to use it to work the delayed 0545 Carmarthen to Manchester once it arrive on the 0600 Carmarthen to Cardiff service after the triple 153s were taken off st Cardiff Central and the 150 that was at the rear of the train had to be failed by the crew due to faulty toilet and doors on front carriage not opening properly so we ended up leaving Cardiff late at 0815 instead of 0750.

103 did manage to claw back time but despite 3 carriages struggled to accommodate everyone especially after we had left Hereford then Leominster and Ludlow

Nice to see 004 back in use. I saw it near Hereford earlier working the 1855 Cardiff to Manchester. I was on 103 which did the 1730 off Manchester and ran close to right time through to Cardiff, despite a delay of a few minutes at Church Stretton.

One would assume that TfW withdrawing 175 diagrams meant that there were now no 150s going to Manchester, but...

It feels like it is going to be a 197 diagram substituting a 175 diagram when it should be the 150s taken off first.

As others are noting 2 cars on the Marches is not enough.

Mainly due to the continued poor reliability it seems. Despite 004 being back in service there only appears to be 5 175s out in service today. CAF really seem to be struggling with the maintenance.

Thanks so much for posting these diagrams. So it seems almost all of the South Wales-Manchester's that are not MK4's are still officially booked 175s even though they are often subbed for 150s/153s.

Well to be honest the majority of Marches services that aren't MK4 or 197 are booked for 175s on paper with the 150s covering. So even if extra 197 diagrams are replacing 175 diagrams this should ensure less 150s are on the Marches overall as you would hope the 197 availability would be better than the 175s so less chance of needing a 150/153 to cover?

3 carriages on the marches is now getting to be not enough

4 cars is not enough, that's why they're getting 5 car MK4s and plan to run 2+3 197s. Hopefully with 5 cars most people can sit down.
Which of course will become 0+3 or 2+0 long before any of these stored units turn a wheel for another operator.

At Ludlow today, the Marches formations look like 2,2,2,4,2,2,2,2,2, then cancelled due to a lack of stock.

How do they get away with this?

I find it so dumb that TfW are returning the 175s instead of an agreement with the lessor to get them for longer, if what I saw around is true there isn't even another operator lined up, which makes this lot even more dumb.

Who's going to maintain them? CAF already have nearly as many 197s as there were 175s delivered to deal with.

A look at RTT shows only 4 or those 8 diagrams were 175s today. Of the 2 cars one was replaced with a 158 the other upgraded to a 3 car 175. Of the booked 3 car workings 2 were as booked, one short formed as a two car 175 and the other 3 were Sprinters (2 cars).

So availability is still very low. The only thing that will improve things is more 197s coming into service.

There are actually 2 other 175s showing on RTT as being in service one appears to be on Ebbw Vale and the other on a Cardiff to Chester. So looks like 6 in total today.

If the 2 cars are to be withdrawn soon I guess those 2 will be the next diagrams to go.

1V96 is no longer a mk4 working. The only “booked” mk4 workings down the coast are 1V91 in the morning & 1W96 in the evening

1V96 is now booked 197 but has thrown up various formations of 175/197 with swaps at Chester this week. As can be seen above 175s now have no actual booked work M-F to North Wales.

Hence why it would have made sense to have taken up the option to create a new 197 depot on a brownfield site, which has been mentioned as an option here many times.

Chester could then have maintained 175s to the handover and potentially been a secondary 197 location once the 175s were replaced.

Having Chester as the primary 197 base AND the primary 175 base has been a recipe for disaster.

I don't disagree with your last statement. But that's a lot of investment for short term gain. Having 2 Depots will increase costs massively when for the long term all that's needed is one larger Depot to accommodate all the 197's. CAF and TFW still seem to believe Chester is big enough for the non-ertms 197s.

Supposedly 175001 moving to Ilford soon.

Also appears to be 10 175's out today.

175010 and 175110 are currently booked 1I08 all the way through to international tomorrow from Holyhead. Haven't seen a 5 car through to International before!
If stick, they do
1208 International - Aber (to salop)
1330 Aber - International (back from salop)
1508 International - Holyhead
1918 Holyhead - New St
2232 New St - Crewe via Salop.

Why? Is the North Wales Coast - Bham likely to be busier than the Marches?
Odd to see a 5 car during these shortages too.

You've got Shrewsbury flower show on but that won't necessitate a 5 car nor use of 175s?!
I'm stumped finding the inbound diagram of 175110 also, it's not travelled to Holyhead today but is starting service tomorrow?

Should be detaching at Chester now rather than continuing as a 5 car. I suspect that will feed through to RTT and other systems shortly. Seems to have been at Holyhead for a while, I can’t see any workings for it for the last 7 days. This is probably a move to get it shifted.
