Hi everyone I’m going to be taking a journey from Gatwick Airport to Cambridge and was wondering if my tickets were valid on the London Underground as I have to change from Farringdon to London Liverpool Street.

Yes they are, the precense of the cross (This can take various forms depending on the machine that printed the ticket) before 'Any permitted route' confirms that it is valid for a single cross London journey, that will be fine.

Yes: the cross London marker † is printed on your ticket, which indicates that it's valid on London Underground. Both Gatwick Airport and Cambridge are served by Thameslink, and there are through trains which don't involve changing at Farringdon or Liverpool Street.

There are engineering works on the 27th, when this ticket is dated, closing the line out of Kings Cross. The route the OP describes is the fastest one on that particular day, avoiding multiple replacement buses.

Just spotted the date on your ticket: there are no through trains on 27th August. Sorry for misleading you on that!

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately there is engineering work going on at King’s Cross which means that I’ll have to change trains.

Thank you very much. I was looking on the TfL website which described the symbol as a + which confused me

Don’t worry. I had checked ahead and was aware that there were no through trains to Cambridge which is why I asked if the ticket was valid cross london. Thanks for your help in answering my question

It's supposed to be a ✠, but some machines use a font that doesn't include it so print the † instead. That's why the small print on the back of the ticket has both.
