Hi. Can anyone help? Is train TGV INOUI 2356 the same train as TGV 9576? They both leave Strasbourg at 1044h and arrive Paris Est at 1231h. I'm asking as I want to join the train at Karlsruhe on 14 August (0953h), but the DB website calls this train TGV 9576, whereas my interrail reservation from Strasbourg calls it INOUI 2356. So is this the same train with two headcodes? Or could there be two trains following close behind each other? Thanks

I believe that it's two trains which attach at Strasbourg and then run coupled together to Paris. 2356 will start from Strasbourg after 9576 from Karlsruhe has coupled onto its rear in the platform there.

Thank you. That makes sense now. So a quick dash down the platform to find our seats.
Are there any websites where I can make an interrail reservation for the cross-border Karlsruhe - Strasbourg leg? Thanks

Sadly, no, other than the Interrail site.
To save EUR18, if time permits (in this case almost 2 hours earlier), take the ICE to Offenburg then the cross-border local.

The reservation from Karlsruhe is the same price to Strasbourg or Paris (€17 plus €2 if booked via Interrail). Domestic SNCF reservations can normally be reimbursed before departure time (but do check because it also depends on where you booked), so you could also book a new reservation from Karlsruhe and get a refund for the one from Strasbourg.
[check online]
But that's all theory because the TGV from Karlsruhe is fully booked, even to Strasbourg.

Thanks, both

That's helpful, thanks. The DB planner only offered the stopping train, changing at Appenweier. Offenburg is much better.

Theres still places for full price tickets, though. But I will take the local train connection.

In this case it doesn't matter, if the first train is on time.

There are no pass holder quota anymore on the Germany-France services.
SNCF say 1 seat available in 1st class, none in 2nd. Interrail agrees with that. DB too, but you will only see that when you click past the reservation preferences.

Actually that's what it threw up for me - I just didn't check! The RE is a good backup anyway if the ICE is very late.
