I thought they were going for scrap or if not scrapped? Happy to be corrected.

I thought they had been scrapped but clearly not! Cue them being suggested for everything again.

Shame, for one moment my heart leaped that they might one day come back into service. One of my favourite trains of all time.

Thought from the wiki entry Eastleigh was renovating some 442 carriages (one with a driving cab) to run as part of Northumbria Rail's preserved HST 125 train?

Although it was just 77382 from 442401 "Beaulieu" that was to be preserved and used by Northumbria Rail with the HST? Have they also taken on 2 more carriages?

Perhaps at Nene valley railway, rather than mainline charter, next use 1st Sept, but from the FB page 77382 is still being worked on at Eastleigh (wiring to work with other Mk3s?) so may not be there on the 1st? (Northumbria Rail Ltd. 27 June "With thanks to Mark at Angel Trains and Carl at Arlington Fleet Services Ltd the correct MW and high level pipe door covers have been recovered to be be refitted to 77382")

Still unclear about 77417 and 71853, on Carl's website says "The first pair of 442 vehicles are inside for feasibility work to begin" But does not say why?
