Are there problems on the GWML with the OLE?

I have seen two GWR trains in the last 30 minutes apparently running on diesel power - neither had their pans up. 1W30 1523 Pad Worcester Foregate St (seen at Twyford) 1L21 13.53 Cardiff Central - Pad (seen at Slough). Is this simply a co-incidence that I have seen two trains in quick succession that are unable to use their pantographs for some reason or is there a problem with the OLE on the Up Fast?

I was just on one a couple of weeks ago that was running very slowly between Cardiff and Newport. Eventually it switched back to diesel power.

Quite a common occurrence to see/hear Iets on diesel mode. Seems a waste given the money spent of the electrification.

Thanks for the various replies. Today is the first time that I have seen a GWR 80x unit on diesel power under the wires so to see two in very quick succession made me think there was an OLE problem. From what MasterPhillips and irish_rail say I have not seen anything unusual.

Well not this week maybe and certainly not a couple of years ago, but generally, past 12 months or so diesel only sets have been far rarer until this week.
