I would expect Part 3 to be the most important part as the aim of the test is to see how well you can multitask.

Let just say there was 100 slides for each section of VSE. Section 1 you get 100% Section 2 you get 95% and section 3 you get 70 percent. Would OPC accumulate the overall score or is there a bench mark for each section of the test and if you dont hit the bench mark let say 90 percent you have failed the test.

???????????? Anyone have a clue ️‍♂️
Mate talking from experience don't over think it, it does nothing for you mentally and physically in both before taking the test or even awaiting the test results (maybe not come on the forum after taking it till you get your results) . Be as calm as possible is my advice, i found having classical music on while taking the test had me calm and very focused

Spot on,

I done my VSE last night, I made mistakes and automatically assumed I've failed but I could have made no mistakes and I'd probably still think the same.

Truth be told, I actually have no idea how I've done, dont get me wrong I know where I sit roughly as its quite clear when you make a mistake and you kind of know how many you've made but no one knows the actual 'pass' mark or criteria.

Its a bit of a defense mechanism to assume you've failed so your expectations get lowered.

This morning, I'm of the mindset 'whats done is done', I cant change it now so I'm not worried by it.

So i passed national standards but failed enhanced with arriva last year . So I won’t have to complete the tests I passed at national standard, just go in and complete the the enhanced test which is DFFT i believe which I failed previously?
If I’m being honest, I cannot answer this one!
I do know that different companies have adapted their ‘standards’ and that there is no one blanket ‘enhanced standard’.
Therefore at Arriva it may be a case that their enhanced standard requires a higher pass mark than the national standard - including the additional DFFT.
It may be a case of waiting till that stage and then querying - everything is on the OPC database so they shouldn’t make you resit tests that already meet the criteria of the company you are applying for.
Best answer I can give I’m afraid :(

All the best either way!!

Hey,

Just letting you know I’ve just received the email for the OPC assessment.
Hi there,

Thanks for letting me know. Is your deadline the same as others for Friday? I’ve still not received anything yet hopefully I get an email in the next couple of days if not I’ll email them.

Good luck.

My deadline is for Saturday. When did you hear back initially/send your info over? x

What does the email say?

I didn't even reach the OPC assessment stage.
Essentially just info on the assessment and when you need to have done it by x

Just did my VSE. Annoyed with myself as I made a mistake in the 1st stage and it threw me off and I started clicking "Error" for every movement of the dot rather then just the errors so probably made 10 mistakes before I corrected myself.

Think I did ok on the other stages but I'm sure that's ruined my score overall

What is the First Stage Testing for OPC?

Its actually quite difficult to keep track of what you have and havent completed due to how many assessments there are.

Stage one are all the written one and then stage 2 are computer ones and sometimes MMI some will arrange that for a 3rd day.

Hi everyone, new member here, just joined.

I, too, underwent the online VSE with OPC for Arriva.
Took the test on Monday. The 1st and 2nd parts I was pretty happy with how they went, made 1 mistake on each. 3rd part started off quite well until 3 symbols started appearing on the cab/signaling part of the test. I may have been concentrating too much on the track portion of the test and I mistakenly chose the wrong answers many times for the signals part, then started getting somewhat frustrated because of those mistakes and made mistakes on the track part, too. Overall I probably made about 5 mistakes on the track section, and 10 on the signaling section in the 3rd part of the test alone.

I was pretty certain that I had failed the test, however to my surprise, today I received an email from Arriva stating that I've been successful and progressed to the First Stage Assessments by the OPC.

Now, the thing is, I went through the First Stage Assessment back in 2020, passed it and went onto the Second Stage at the OPC in Watford, sometime in March IIRC, just before Covid blew up. I failed somewhere towards the end of the 2nd stage.
Any ideas if I'll be required to repeat any of the assessments that I have passed when I took them 3 years ago?

Thanks all and best of luck to anyone that's still waiting for the results.
A lot of TOCS allow results in the past 5 years however some are shorter not sure about Arriva but it may be one that requires you to resist all tests with them.

I passed all the assessments to Enhanced level and Arriva didn't even give me a chance. No idea why.

I see, I done these with GTR (paper and computer), am I right to assume they are not the same?

Yeah same. Literally in January. What i suggest. When they send the assement day date email them that " i have passed the enhanced level tests, what tests I'm I required to resit if any? " there is not point emailing them now about it as they'll be busy allocating dates and dealing with who's passed and unsuccessful.

Distance maybe
I live 20 minutes away. Instead I got a DMI with GWR in a couple weeks time 105 miles away.

Il have to rent out if I'm successful. Totally doesn't make sense.

Nothing wrong with my application. Same as usual.

Have you applied to them before?

105miles away? That really is strange.

Yeah 105miles does seem pretty random, personally as much as I want to get into the role I dont think I'd go that far for it.

Thats a lot of pressure if you get offered the job to secure housing etc.
