This isn’t a huge surprise. Amazed that ASLEF recommended the deal. Not necessarily anything wrong with the deal, but the idea of train drivers just accepting the first deal offered was always fanciful.
But we did last year and that was accepted with a much greater majority.

But it wasn't the "first" offer made though. The company council knocked back the first 3 offers in the negotiations before the offer just rejected was sent to the EC with a recommendation to accept and put out to a vote.

I suspect a good number of the almost 300 that didn't vote expected it to sail through so couldn't be bothered due to not having any negative feelings on the deal.

What is certain though, is that the company aren't going to come back with anything much higher % wise without detrimental changes to conditions.

Improved pay offer made to ASLEF by ScotRail this afternoon. Offer will be recommended to the membership for acceptance.

Increase in % offered and also, surprisingly, additional improvements to conditions.

TfW still ongoing as far as I'm aware. Hard to work out which way it will swing, some depots are in favour with others dead against it.

What does the deal mean in regards to T&C’s?

Massive changes to their conditions. Some are okay, but if it was put on the table up here in Scotland it wouldn't get through. I'd certainly not vote for it.

This dco operation is similar to cross countrys dispatch method no?

That was the original offer that ASLEF rejected out of hand without bothering to put it to the drivers first. A lot of the T&C changes mentioned above have been removed in the offer that's currently being voted on.

Similar, but it'll be the driver carrying out the final PTI checks and choosing when to close the doors. It's more akin to the Merseyrail agreement rather than XC.

So what exactly is the guard giving the bells for?

I thought the whole idea was to reduce dwell times. Ten bells dispatch is slow.
It's 3 bells and not for dispatch. 1-2 by OBS to say they are on the train and staying on the train. The 1-2 is their so that the train does not depart with the OBS performing passenger assistance such as thetching a ramp or helping someone off. Driver release, closes and does the safety check I.e. Full despatch with the trains full sweet of cameras and in cab screens.

So 1-2 in this case is the equivalent of a Merseyrail guard tapping their card?

Very interesting on the revised offer details

*6% overall on current salary - 5% backdated to 1st April 23 and 1% from 1st October 23, which takes basic salary to £58,579 (Sundays outside)
*Additional annual day (lieu day)
*RDW payment increase to £500

Drivers currently get 5 weeks A/L split into 2 x 2 week blocks and 1 x 1 week block plus 6 annual days.

What does “removal of booking off allowance” mean?

No walking time back to the booking on point? Booked off as soon as your train arrives at its destination, basically booked off on the platform?
That's basically it. It's worth 5 minutes per diagram.

Yup. Although I understand that unlike on Merseyrail it won't be used at every station - certain locations (I think the Cardiff city centre stations) will be the normal DGO dispatch.
