Does anyone know why the above terminated at York with passengers transferred to another train?

Looks like it was due to multiple vehicles being short on water - so I can only assume that the toilets were coming to grief.

The replacement set came off Neville Hill, whilst the original returned to Doncaster

Very efficient set swap that was originally 2 early, departed 7 late, but was on time again departing Newcastle. Well done to all involved.

It was a straight forward cross platform transfer at York (11 to 10) so that would have helped.

Looks like the terminating set came in on 11 and the new one left from 10, so a nice and easy cross-platform swap.

Edit - great minds...

I’m always impressed when the Inverness-Kings Cross runs through 5 with the 14:02 stopper to Kings Cross connecting in the adjacent bay platform.

The London fasts always use platform 5 when there is a stopper to connect with on platform 6.

Multiple toilets locked out of service on 1E05 south bound journey, several reinstated, but multiple toilets had less than 20% water in, so the set swap was arranged for York, good team work between NWR Signallers and York team for moving a northern service that was booked to use platform 10, to allow a seamless cross platform transfer.

To note, the service did not terminate, that would imply the Aberdeen service did not run north or York.
It was an in service change of train.
