Best Value railcard for Scotrail

I am not sure which railcard will offer me the best value ; Club 50 costing £15 and a 20% discount, or Old Person card, costing £30 and offering 30% discount. Setting aside any other offers, for example the current flat fare deal, which card represents the best value?

If the "Old Person" card to which you refer is a Senior Railcard for persons aged 60+, it can also be had for £70 online, valid for three years, and actually offers a slightly larger discount of a third off rather than 30%, and could also be used for trips with TOCs other than Scotrail.

Based on the information in your post, if you buy tickets costing less than £100 in a year (before the discount), the Club 50, if more than £100, Old Person card, as you call it.

Thanks. I did mean the Senior railcard.. I will look at the 3 year option, and availability with other TOCs.. does anyone know i Cross Country or LNER participate?

All companies accept the senior railcard for discounts on all tickets. You can use Club 50 to get discounts on off-peak fares in Scotland, plus ScotRail only advance fares

Not quite true with peak morning tickets in the South East. Theres no discount on fares priced by English TOCs in Scotland with the Club 50 card either.

All Train Operating Companies accept the railcard. It’s valid across the entire GB National Rail network.
