The announcements were out of order in Batley and other stations on the Huddersfield line for over a year before they were fixed a few months ago. But the 'new' voice sounds like a throwback to public information films from the fifties, particularly her pronounciation of the stops towards Manchester Victoria. I've posted a couple of clips (poor quality - sorry):
Batley to Man Vic and Batley to Huddersfield.

Argh, its Celia :|

I quite like Celia for some reason - maybe it's because the RP pronunciation and voice make places sound classy when they really aren't.:oops:

She does sound more appropriate in SWT land though!

You are right about the "interesting" pronunciation, the ways she says "TOD-morden" sounds like they've got a clip of her saying Morden (LU Northern Line) and stuck "Tod" in front.

Then they certainly need Celia for one or two stops on the Great Northern Route. :)

Mainly Stevenage...

She was actually at Stevenage for a while, until replaced by the Atos Anne system.

Together with Phil Sayer if I remember correctly, however I've noticed that as well as Anne being used on FCC stations there is now a male voice being used - Who is it?

Is the male voice announcing trains, or just miscellaneous junk?

It's for the non train announcements for example the security announcements and safety announcements such as Please allow passengers to get off the train first before boarding etc...

Anne does all the train announcements both in service and not in service ones although she does have a knack for announcing trains are running 4 minutes late when they're on time and also telling passengers to stand back from the platform edge as a non stopping train is approaching even when there's no train approaching or when there's already a train in said platform!!!

She does it CONSTANTLY at Potters Bar! I stand there, waiting for the HST to come blaizing through....but there is no HST! It's Anne's fault! ;)

Probably just someone in FCC control then.

It's not though, these announcements are from the pre existing templates available within the ATOS system and are not manually recorded ones from someone in FCC control hence my question, ;)

It could well be someone from within FCC nonetheless, the same way FGW have used Rodger from Reading(?) as part of the automated Atos system they're rolling out now. Also the same as Mike from London Bridge and Ruth from Truro too.

But perhaps not...

Quite often she announces a non-stopping train through platform 3 at Potters Bar after the train has been through - on some occasions even after the signal has cleared back to single yellow!

Not another new system!

Indeed. The usual ATOS system with Anne. It's live at a very small number of stations now but I forget which ones. I'm not sure if it's going to replace their entire CIS so it's all standardised but I believe it's replacing the old 'Boofay' announcements at the moment, and then perhaps might move onto replacing Ruth? And then eventually the remainder. But I'm not sure.

It is supposedly going to replace the Thames Trains Racal system ("Boofay") and the Wessex Trains SEMA/Atos system (Ruth). I think the FGW Ditra systems are going to be merely upgraded rather than replaced.

Without wishing to turn this into a debate over who the best voiceover is, I'm going to be gutted to see Ruth removed. Without a doubt my favourite announcer. I'm neither here nor there with Anne.

I'd also like to point out that Boofay (Julie Berry?) is the only system with the correct pronunciation of St Austell.

I noticed that too! I wasn't sure if it was a singalling error or something, but again, it's her fault! :D
