I have bought Advance Singles from the SWR website last week for Southampton Airport Parkway (SOA) to London St Pancras (STP) travelling out next Tuesday 20th.

When buying them I chose to collect them from West Cowes but I forgot to pick them up when I was there yesterday and I’m not planning to be there again before I set off.

Is it possible to change the collection point to another station?

The purpose of selecting a collection point is because there are still a very small number of stations that can’t deal with the process, but you can in fact pick them up at almost any station, especially Southampton Parkway.

They can be collected from any online TVM which is most of them, you don't need to do anything to change it. The list is only to make sure you don't try to collect from a location without one.

As the journey seems to be Southampton Airport Parkway to St Pancras International it's worth checking they print correctly and don't say London Terminals

There are no advance fares defined from Southampton Airport Parkway to London St Pancras. The destination would therefore be Zone U1* Londn (London Underground Zone 1). This ticket is routed SW Railway Only and cannot therefore be used on Southeastern from Waterloo East, the onward journey to STP would need to be by underground.

That's what should happen but I think there is still a possibility that the destination will be London Terminals.

Thanks all. I have managed to collect the tickets from my local station this morning. The destination is London Underground Zone 1.

Great. Your onward journey to St Pancras should be by underground, I would suggest Jubilee line to Green Park and Victoria from there.

For Waterloo to KXSP I would always use Bakerloo to Oxford Circus then Victoria line. At Oxford Circus, the Bakerloo and Victoria line platforms are parallel and only about 30m apart, with several cross-connection tunnels. Train to train can be under a minute if you're lucky with the arriving Vic train.

From Waterloo to St Pancras take the Bakerloo to Oxford Circus thence Victoria Line to Kings Cross St Pancras.

Level interchange at Oxford Circus.

I've picked up tickets from other stations rather than the one I selected at the time of booking.

Perhaps it would be better if retailers said that you can collect your ticket from your starting station (if available) or any other station on this list. Then people wouldn't need to ask if their plans changed and they needed to collect from somewhere else.

Agreed. A thought, albeit I'm not sure if the ticket type would permit it: Would changing at Clapham Junction for a service stopping at Vauxhall and then changing there taking the Victoria line straight to Kings Cross/St Pancras possibly be faster/easier?

At Waterloo turn left along the platform to just past the central point of the platform (used to be a paint mark there), then on arrival at Oxford Circus you will be in line with the (straight) cross passageway.
If either of the 2 lines are not 100%, plan B is the Northern line but this tends to be busier in my experience.

It might but the starting station may not have facilities for collection. The current system prevents that from happening.

I don't think there'd be any problem with the ticket, I think it would work the Vauxhall NR and TfL gates. But it only works if your main line train calls at CLJ, which many don't; and even then, there's a moderate distance to walk at both CLJ and Vauxhall interchanges.

That moderate walk, which l agree, is still probably less than the Waterloo interchange.

When you say which station you want to collect the tickets from, don't they also tell you when that station is open so you don't arrive and find you can't get in? I've also been reminded if my train doesn't call at the nominated station, eg Fort William to Glasgow -- not Derby.

Not all retailers explicitly make you choose a station, e.g. Trainline just allows you to see the list and warns you if your departing station doesn't have ToD facilities.

Yes, but the information is often wrong. For example if you choose to collect from Rotherhithe station it says you can only do so from 7-10am Monday to Friday, whereas in reality you can do so from first to last train daily.
