In an era where, mostly due to a lack of government support, the railways are generally not doing so well, I did notice yesterday some actually quite smart stock allocations on SWR, which seemed to match stock to likely demand.
The 1335 Southampton-Poole was formed of a single 444, but the 1655 Southampton-Waterloo was a double 444 while the 1755 was a triple 450, which would make sense as it's a popular time to return from a day-trip to Bournemouth. (In fact it wasn't so busy as it was cloudy, but obviously on a fine day it probably would be).
Formerly, the stock allocations on all these services were single 444s, IIRC.
Wonder if these were booked allocations? If so, it's good to see some matching of demand with stock at the weekends.
