Ignoring stock that already has a sunset plan in place (Southern's 313s and LU 73 stock for example), what rolling stock do you think should/will be replaced soon?

Ex-BR DMUs. They are getting old now and are more polluting than modern standards would see as appropriate.

Voyagers - a worthwhile experiment as a first 125mph underfloor DEMU, but really a bit rubbish and needing to be replaced with something with more capacity and with a pantograph.

Any remaining HSTs - see ex-BR DMUs.

Any ex BR DMU. With the possible exception of the 158s, none of them provide anything remotely comparable to a pleasant modern travelling environment. They’ve served their purpose well but it’s now time for them to join first gen DMUs and Pacers on preserved lines.

I hope there's still a plan for follow on orders for more new tube for London to replace the 1972 stock on the bakerloo line once the Piccadilly is done. I'm amazed such old trains under such heavy use aren't causing more problems in terms of reliability.

The HSTs are less polluting that many post privatisation DMUs, though.

As with many here, Sprinters, I find them fine trains, especially the 150s when quiet.
As much as I'd try to be on the last Sprinter down my line, I'd also happily welcome anything new.

In an ideal world, all diesel-only locos and MUs would already have a plan in place for their replacement by bi-modes/battery units...

150’s ought to be the next out. The Northern ones are worse than the pacer’s with their horrendous internal layouts, lack of legroom and poor views.

150/1 and 150/2 need to be gone but can't see them being replaced any time soon also voyagers never liked them to cramped no leg room and horribly small windows.

yes sorry pendolinos been a long day but if 150s did eventually get replaced what would replace them more 195s or something else.

I just meant why weren't they listed, I know what the /0s are, 001 and 002 are the prototypes and 003-006 are /1s with a /2 car in the middle.

I think the answer is this, but obviously there's a restriction in what can be said.
The bids for the replacement of Northern’s 15x fleet is quite well advanced (commenced in January) with a surprise leading bidder at the moment. I can’t say anymore than that.

what would the time scale be for replacing 150s with new trains.
Towards the end of the decade, although a gradual programme of replacement might see some sprinter replacement well into the 2030s.
