They are identical to any other Northern TrainFX unit.

So you didn't notice the external door announcements that have been fitted to this unit? They actually say "These doors are closing, please stand clear" when you're outside the unit on the platform.

Seems a reasonable idea. A bit odd that they haven't done it across all of the PRM modded fleet though - I suppose the difference being that the Sprinters etc. have had sounders fitted so that the beeping can be heard clearly from the outside.

To be of maximum utility it would also announce something like "Train to Harrogate - next stop Knaresborough" when the doors open, though I've not actually seen that anywhere in the UK, only abroad.

It's just a trial at the moment. 170s do have the PRM door chimes already.

Probably be more useful if it said "Train to Harrogate - next stop Starbeck" ;)

Now you mention it I do recall a voice when the doors were closing, although I confess to not taking in what was being said!

TPE used to have that but I think it caused some confusion i.e. people would hear the Knaresborough and think that was the station they were at so would get off (though I witnessed people getting off at Warrington thinking it was Crewe the other day without that type of announcement)

It does it itself automatically based on GPS and unit allocation data (plus a couple of other bits). Crew cannot set a journey and that's why it also works on units that aren't fitted with TrainFX such as 333s and 170s.

333015 now has a revised toilet door locking mechanism - there is a separate lock button as seen on 158s aiming to stop issues where passengers lock the toilet inadvertently after they exit. This will hopefully be fitted to the remaining fleet after a trial period.

333s will also gain yellow end passenger doors as part of a trial to aid door duties for conductors.

The PASSCOM alarms also appear to be 170 due to the sunny weather and how the trainfx displays are I will try and get a video of the displays as the doors close
