I thought modern electronics were supposed to be small!
I honestly nearly spat out my morning coffee when I read that.
A SIL-4 (for some reason it's SIL-4, even though TPWS literally doesn't have a SIL rating and neither do the, well, brakes that the ETCS On Board Equipment operates!) which means the equipment is massive.
There are also some design, errr, choices to worry about.
It's not just the computers; at least half of the volume is relays and power supplies.
And for the 'heritage' locomotives that don't have an E70 frame, all of the extra valves needed to make it work properly, lets not even mention pneumatic throttle control and vacuum brakes.
Photo that’s been doing the rounds for weeks.
So with all this effort and re-painting and a new jumper connection...
They seem to have used the obsolete 27 way LPA jumper, positioned well above solebar so you still need an access platform to properly insert the jumper. Well done.
Oh, and where's the sand boxes gone...? Appears to be on Class 47 CP11 bogies there rather than CP11a Class 57 bogies, would be interesting if that were to be turned on...
While I'm nit picking at things like it being on the wrong bogies,
Nothing done to repair the corrosion under the non-driving side of the cab, life expired ETS cables not replaced, just painted red to hide the issues... They have renewed the corrosion hiding tread plate at the cab door and threshold though.
