Through ticket to Ryde on Hovertravel

I’m planning a trip to the Isle of Wight including Hovertravel across the Solent. I’m aware that buying a rail/hovercraft ticket requires me to message Hovertravel to book the flight. If I buy an Advance rail/hover ticket am I constrained to a specific hovercraft crossing (maybe the one identified in the itinerary) or can I spend an hour or two in Portsmouth or Southsea and request a later hovercraft?

The reality is I don’t know how the Hovertravel portion of the journey is handled in Advance tickets. Clarification would be appreciated...

Hovertravel services are not reservable in the rail industry data, so you can’t be constrained to a specific hovercraft (at least on a paper ticket) because you won’t have a railway reservation to keep to.

Whilst you’re not required to actually reserve a seat for a hovercraft, it’s very much a good idea to do so to avoid getting left behind in the standby queue because the hovercraft is already full.
