33076 is on the 38
33162 on the short 685
34214 on Annan, 38 & 71
47722 on the 685/66/521/66/38/75 as usual

20943 is on the 67/68

34048 has been repainted and is on the 76 looking a lot smarter.

20910 was on the only Lillyhall 600 that I had time to see.

20895/20979/20966/20908 all parked up against the fence at the depot in that order. 42545 was inside with 42672 & 16393 in the corner ready for service shortly. 4 Darts in the depot and 3 Enviros off. 24120 was being worked on by MAN.

52629 was in the bodyshop with......wait for it...... London 17273 which has had its centre door removed and is all sanded down ready for the paint shop.

Also, Telfords had the Blue Merc on the 127 and the White Merc on the 185 for a change. B12CWR on the 95.

Had good old 14196 on 2a just now and I think it's the slowest I've ever travelled up Hala hill lol. Was so slow going up toward Bowerham that cars overtook us! Still a treat though :) 16663 also made an appearance on the 2 this afternoon.

What do you exspect from a 21-year old bus!
According to Brian Souter, Chief Executive of Stagecoach, there should be no buses older then 10-years old in use on front line services, and no buses older then 15-years old in the operational fleet! (Methinks he needs to take a closer look at the North West depots)

Makes you wonder why 15 year old Cummins engined Volvo Olympians are being refurbished.....

For those who have forgot what 17017 looks like....

He might like to visit the North East then, where there are still plenty of buses that break this rule (including elderly B10BLEs, MANs & low floor Darts).

The inner recesses of my tortured mind.
Morning all,

Further to my previous post, it turns out that 47554 was only a fleeting visitor to us at Chorley. It is now at Preston. I've also heard a whisper that we are losing 47001/2 at the end of April due to service changes. I don't often drive Solos but I am reliably informed by those that do that they will not be missed!

I'm also looking for a bit of help from those in the know - I'm planning to get up to Dumfries soon, using my staff pass. I've planned a journey, but have seen that the timetable for the 555 will be changing soon. I'm planning on travelling on April 11th, so will there be any significant changes to the times? I'm hoping to catch the 1020 555 from Lancaster to Carlisle.

Thanks in advance.

You will be fine catching the 1020 I think. (Unless there are other changes besides the usual summer modifications)

The basic effect of the summer changes is to lengthen more journies to Keswick (in winter, last one from Lancaster is 1520 with all later ones going no further than Grasmere)

34218, 47023 and 47062 on Harrington and Seaton, The same as Yesterday lol!
47060 on Moorclose 50.
20923 on Moorclose 51.
47061 on short 300.
35249 also 30/31.
47059 and 53338 on annexe. which means either the Jonck or an B10M on X4/X5.
16870 came down as Staff's sounding ill.
20910 on Sellafield Contract.

I was thinking if Carlisle United win the Johnstone's paint trophy, (Well if they have an open top tour) I was wondering if they'd send 16329 out. or even 16294 from Kendal to do the open top tour of the city.

It was 47754 that was at Chorley not 47554. As you mention its back at Preston now, working both the 11 and 1 today with 47753 on the 113 and Versa 25225 on the 150 all day.

47001 and 47002 are the first Solos in the Stagecoach fleet aren't they? So their bound to bad vehicles. If 47005/6/7 were anything to go by when they worked at Preston their probably in a similar condition. 47005 had its cooling fan on permanently, 47006 was super slow in acceleration & 47007 vibrated severely when stationary.

News from today.
This: http://www.flickr.com/photos/wiganairways/4340644430/
arrived at Preston with a megabus service for London. Not sure if it was declared a failure as passengers were transferred to Megabus coach 54023 which came empty from depot. It then spent the rest of the day on the megabus stand, it was leaning to one side.

Their isn't much else to report from today. Everything was its normal mixed self, nothing out the ordinary.

Well there are Solos of S, T and W reg in the fleet which were later acquired. Some are with SC Bluebird over the border, dont know if they can be worse as the KX51's have had a hard life it would seem! 47005, 47006 and 47007 are pretty poor still today at Lillyhall. 47007 has definitely turned out the better one with us! We'd happily take on another two go-slows!

KX51's are awful full stop well 47007 isn't that bad PO51's solos are miles better 47024 the best one though

Hmm dont know about that! 47024 is a squealing banshee and since 47023 broke down and was out of action for a while towards the end of last year, It suprised me how nippy it was when it returned! Havnt had a PO51 or a KX51 for a while though on Moorclose, surprisingly its been 04's and 08's when I've came home from uni! I'd have a PO over a KX though haha
