Delayed. Naturally . My own train was also delayed for want of a driver and still made an unscheduled stop.

I was by the Teign estuary. It was going well there, nine on and no diesel on rear. 2 minutes late at Dawlish, 13 early into Plymouth so it must have been a good run over the banks.

That was my favourite too. I was surprised because my poor little phone can't handle the dark or lights it seems.

It was a lovely evening for it. Clear skies with mist spreading across fields and little to no wind.

The Saltash webcam has been a lovely surprise this weekend. I was under the impression - probably misguided - that there had to be a diesel on the rear nowadays? What are the rules about this?

No requirement. It’s just that most shunting operations need a pilot locomotive and it’s increasingly difficult to path a light loco move in tandem with a railtour, more convenient to tag it onto the back, with the added bonus of being insurance if the steam loco needs assistance. The downside from the punters perspective is that the diesel is habitually used to lighten the load and therefore some of the value of steam haulage on the main line is lost. WCRC seem to be particularly keen on diesel-propelling even where it isn’t strictly required.

No requirement unless there are specific circumstances like there being a high fire risk.

47802 left Exeter St David's about 5 minutes after the Flying Scotsman

47802 was the thunderbird loco in case of failures. Ran light Btm-Exeter, waited in the bay platform for the afternoon/evening. Then ran back light in the late evening.

Does anyone know which route that it is likely to take to KWVR? We were thinking its most likely to come via the Marches due to Nuneham and better than sending through Central Birmingham.

I happened to be in Cornwall at the weekend and caught the train from Camborne to Plymouth to see it.

They'd cordoned off the steps up to Platform 8 until Flying Scotsman had come to a halt. There was about a couple of dozen enthusiasts queuing to be the first up onto the platform, but I watched it arrive from Platform 6 and then went over to Platform 8 to get a closer look by which time the crowds were already building up.

I then caught the 13.40 to Saltash and alighted just a few minutes ahead of Scotsman to see the magnificent sight of it crossing The Royal Albert Bridge into Cornwall. Saltash was busy, but not uncomfortably so.

I think a quite a few went on to Par/St Blazey, but I didn't. It looked quite busy on the return journey.

It was an enjoyable few hours out.

It's already there. Don't know what route it took to carnforth but it came from carnforth.

It went via Camp Hill and Walsall. Was very hush hush until an hour or so before it left on Tuesday.
