I’m due to travel to Edinburgh from the 15th to the 19th of next month. Exactly the week that this overtime ban thing is happening. Now I’m unsure about whether I want to chance going or not. Changing it means paying more money for the hotel and probably the train tickets.

ScotRail shouldn't be affected by the overtime ban. Depends how much you were planning to use LNER or the other operators (Avanti/TPE).
It’s LNER to Edinburgh and Southeastern to St Pancras.
